A question about : flight booking

Hi

I am looking to purchase flights from Birmingham to Tampa. The cheapest if coming up through Lastminute.com but it says multiple airlines and as they are indirect I am trying to figure out if earlier flights are delayed will there be an obligation to book me onto later flights.

The flights are:

outbound

BHX - CDG Gives an Air France flight number but is operated by Flybe

CDG - ATL & ATL - TPA Quote Delta flight numbers

Inbound

TPA - CVG quotes Delta flight numbers

CVG - CDG Gives Air France flight number but is operated hy Delta

CDG - TPA Gives Air France flight number

From research I have seen things like check you are on a through ticket, how would I know if I am with 3 different airlines involved?

Thanks.

Best answers:

  • I would say that is a through ticket as Delta codeshare with AirFrance. To simplify things book on the Air France website not through an agent
  • I thought Delta and Air France were partners but I'm not sure how flybe would fit into this.
Flights are about Ј250 each more expensive on Air France website and x3 people it's a lot of money.
  • Wow ok Thankyou for that advice
  • If you book on the travel sites such as lastminute or Expedia, they will quote you a price to get you to your destination so yes, it is a 'through' ticket no matter how many stops there are.
If you are worried about missing any of the connections then choose a different flight with a longer stopover time between flights.
If you have a ticket to your destination and the airline is at fault for you missing your connection then they will put you on the next available flight.
  • I am confident that it is a through ticket... however, it would be a miserable journey. CDG is a really bad place to change 'planes... and you don't even get the usual up-side, the decent wine and films on board Air France flights.
There has to be a better way to get to Tampa! (Of course, the really intelligent thing to do would be to give the USA a miss and go to Cuba instead, but perhaps that is too radical for you.)
  • Yes, avoid Paris if at all possible, a complete nightmare for transfers and the Air France policy of striking, (the strikes cost nearly half a billion Euros according to their accounts this week), at the drop of a hat would lead me to look at any alternative route. The obvious ones being a direct flight to Tampa by BA from London or by United from Birmingham via Newark New York
  • Thanks for all of your advice. As we are looking at flights at Easter the prices for both routes mentioned are considerably more expensive. Ah well back to the drawing board..
