im selling my house the double glassed windows were fitted 2002 september the recipt i was given by the fitter has put in detail what he did to the requlations required for that period which is now out of date he never gave me a certificate but do i still need to provide one

• Is your seller asking for a Fensa certificate? You can re-order them from Fensa.
  If your fitter did not supply one, then it's possible that they were not Fensa registered.
  In reality, those windows are 13 years old and probably out of warrenty. Doubled glazed units normally break down after about 10 years.
• i believe the fensa cert also covers building regs ?

• Are building regulations able to be issued without a FENSA certificate?
  We're buying a house that had a garage conversion in 2004. We have the building regs completion certificate, but the FENSA website doesn't say anything about the window being registered..
• The issue of a building regs cert implies that all aspects of the build met the required standards.
• This is similar to electrical installations. A FENSA registered fitter can self certify the installation or the council appointed inspector can certify them. With the council certification you do not get a separate shiny piece of paper for the windows. The FENSA scheme only applies to replacement windows - new build, extension and conversion work is covered by building regulations for the whole work.
• Has anyone actually asked when the windows were installed? It may not necessarily be brought up. And nobody will know exactly when they were fitted unless you tell them. I have no idea when the windows were replaced in my house.
