A question about : Fake/synthetic grass

Can anyone advise me as to where I might buy some fake/synthetic grass. You know - the type greengrocers use to display their wares!
I need some for a UNI project (not much about 1 metre square)
Thanks

  • I have been looking into synthetic lawns recently. the two companies below are good quality. Why not ask at a grocers for a freebie, or a reccomendation as to where they get it?
www.asgoodasgrass.com they also have a shop in ebay where they sell overruns (etc) at discounted prices.... if you find the shop and contact them they may be able to help.
the cheapest i have seen from them is about £9 per sq m, but you never know
PS if you only need very small pieces, they send bits 10cmx15cm as samples, i got 5 or 6
www.evergreensuk.com also sent me sampples, but bigger - 30cmx12cm again, 5 or 6 in the envelope.
  • i have never seen anything like this sold in the high street / DIY store unfortunately.
depends what you need to use it for..... would green fur fabric from a fabric shop do the job?!
  • Why not just ask your local greengrocer, I'm sure they will either sell or give you a bit.
  • For what ever reason I have some in my loft rolled up, been up there years.
If you PM me your address I'll send you some.
  • Now the trend is for synthetic grass. If you are thinking about synthetic grass, there are many things you should consider before settling on one product and making a big investment. Not every synthetic grass company is the same, and they do not all provide the same caliber of products; some are not worth the money. Your synthetic lawn grass should offer excellent drainage, lengthy durability and a realistic look and feel if you are going to be happy with the money you spend. It is better, go to local greengrocer to buy your synthetic / fake grass.
  • I'd have guessed the OP is long gone by now!
  • B&Q did have a wooden square pieces of decking with fake grass in them. They may not have it any more though. They weren't hugely expensive.
  • Does anyone Have any updated info on where i can ge the Greengrocers Grass cheaply?
  • Quite a few places do free samples.. such as these people > artificial grass
  • You can pick it up it by the metre at any large hardware store that do DIY style stuff. Or try contacting a synthetic grass company for some off cuts. I am in Australia but here there is a company called Enduroturf Synthetic Grass and they always have heaps of offcuts.
  • Please press the Spam button
  • I've seen places like Synthetic Grass Warehouse, they also have a website, that sell square footage of synthetic grass. They also have detailed installation pictures that might be useful for you if you want to see how the installation process is planned out. Hope this helps.
  • Synthetic grass has become increasingly popular in recent years. This grass was primarily used for sports; synthetic turf is used for residential, commercial, and recreation use. It also increases the value of your home by making it more attractive. An online search can guide you the shop to buy artificial grass near your area.
  • I walked on some synthetic grass at a garden centre today. Didn't look too bad but sounded like walking on crispy snow
  • Hi guys,
First post - not sure if i'm allowed to post links(?) but there are a few places you can pick up that plastic type green grocer grass. I bought some for a display in our shop off ebay earlier this year, search for artificial grass or display grass. It seems like it's solid in 6 foot by 3 foot pieces mostly. Also more recently we bought from tradersupplies.co.uk/display-equipment/artificial-grass-matting/artificial-grass-matting-1.8m-x-1.0m which have a few different sizes.
Watch out as there's some really cheap stuff available but the plastic pile drops out very easily leaving bald patches :O
