A question about : Extreme Couponing UK

Afternoon

I was wondering if anyone was interested in starting Couponing ?

I'd love to give it a go & Integrate it with my weekly shopping in hope of reducing the cost of groceries !

I usually spend about Ј60-70 on shopping for family of 4 ( 2Adults & 2Kids )

Also love to start reviewing products etc, but after I get the hang of couponing. I have found a few sites where you can get coupons / money back/ freebies etc.

Be great to have someone else to motivate me if they were doing it too .... title=Big

Best answers:

  • Id like to look into it!
  • I've been doing it for about the past 6 / 7 weeks.
I started doing it for a couple of reasons 1 is obviously the money factor and the second is I keep getting conditional spend vouchers for both sainsbobs and tosco in the same week.
At the min I am spending my usual Ј60 - Ј70 in real cash but buying between Ј100 - Ј110 worth of goods so I'm stockpiling.
I'm hoping that by continuing to do that maybe once I have enough I could have a week free where I'm not shopping that week and therefore saving a weeks worth of food shop money too?
I'm well up for a extreme uk coupon thread
    Thanks
    Em
  • theres a coupon thread here already

  • if its anything like the US extreme couponing then no , unless you want 72packs of mansize tissues and 48 boxes of powered egg
  • Don't we have stricter coupon rules here than in the USA? Ive seen that extreme couponing show on TLC and they are using hundreds of duplicate coupons in one go, whereas in the UK they always state that it cant be used in conjunction with another offer, or more than one voucher at a time
Shame, I'd quite like to give extreme couponing a go!
  • hello,
id love to do this, mainly because due to currently not working we get a bigger amount of money one week then the next we dont get as much, and with everything to pay off i need to try getting a big enough shop on week 1 to cover for week 2 aswell.
which is hard as my partner eats lots and is forever picking at food, and my 2 year old is also always asking for food (she doesnt seem to realise shes full & will eat and eat untill shes sick then still ask for food)
ive been trying to find vouchers but alot still dont seem to make it worthwhile.
  • Hiya, Couponing does get addictive.
My limit to couponing has been the coupons received in Baby Bounty bags and of course the bundle of coupons that tesco send. I always check the prices on mysupermarket. The worst coupon I have was on a packet of Chicken Wings for Red Hot Sauce, I checked the price on mysupermarket and Tesco had put the price up for the duration of the coupon. You was essentially buying the item for normal price. Rubbish!
You should always check the price. It is one thing using a coupon to get an item slightly cheaper, but another to get an item for dirt cheap when it is at its lowest price. e.g Ribena for Ј3 a bottle and with a Ј1.15 off voucher.
Another thing I do is check out the Savvy buys on mysupermarket. Whenever I do that I always get the price comparison receipt saying Ј23 worth of savings etc. Which is always a good feeling as I know it is pretty accurate.
We also always get at least 2 copies of the Ј5 off a Ј45 shop from The Mirror for Aldi. It is published the last thursday of the month and lasts for a week. You also get a few coupons for other bits and pieces.
Also we never forget bags - you get Green Clubcard points from re-using. For us over the course of a year that is about 72 points free.
However, we are lucky in that we have all the major supermarkets a short distance from us, so playing them is pretty easy.
Good luck in your couponing quest.
  • As per myrtleturtle above, best to see what the forum already offers before starting a new thread asking if anyone does couponing ;-)

  • I'd LOVE to do it, but I thought coupon rules were a lot more strict over here.
I'd totally stock pile jelly and lady products
  • i find it stricter her, i also think some of the american shows are staged though x
  • Yes they are staged or edited like some stores u can only use coupons on certain days (normally slow business Times) and a certain amount of couple but I would still like a stockpile like those! I would keep smellies n cleaning stuff but give most food to food banks cos do I really need a hundred boxes of pasta n cereal???
