A question about : Expenses?
What expenses can be claimed back from the tax man if you are self employed?
Best answers:
- SEE HERE
- Ta Troo xxxx
- The IRs definition for the self employed is those expenses which are 'wholly, exclusively and necessarily' for the ppurposes of business, and you would need to prove this if queried by an inspector.
Such that, a cabbie may claim petrol expenses against his income for the year, but would, for example, need to be warey of claiming a holiday for him and his wife in the Maldives.
It comes down to being able to justify the expense basically.
