A question about : Excess goods delivered

Hi all

Sorry if I'm out of order posting this

I ordered some furniture from a well known company online on Boxing Day - was originally told a date from delivery when I rang 2 weeks later to query, took the day off work to receive the items rang said company on morning of delivery to be told it wasn't due until 2 days later, arranged another day off work to be told furniture out of stock

Had already sold my furniture the day before original delivery date so no furniture to sit on someone eventually agreed to send me some loan furniture out and 1 item of mine that they had in stock, delivery day arrived and no loan furniture arrived but the item they had in stock did.

Again rang back and requested loan furniture they offered me stuff that was no good to me then changed their mind, another delivery date was then arranged and loan furniture arrived, when delivery men tried to assemble equipment no bolts with it to hold it together and sticker on furniture saying bolts missing - it was a faulty returned item which hadn't been checked

Today after I cancelled my holiday (didn't want to risk waiting any longer) my furniture was delivered, unfortunately I had to pop out so a neighbour sat in for me, they have delivered all of my order including a duplicate of the first item I had already had delivered which my neighbour didn't realise

They are supposed to be ringing me back regarding compensation for my time off work and inconvenience so my quandary here is - I know I should ring them and tell them but they are supposed to be ringing me, do I just wait and see what happens and eventually sell the item, it's quite a large item or do I ring them and have to take yet another day off due to them.

Best answers:

  • Sounds like you were !!!!ed around enough - wait for them to call you regarding your compensation claim and see if it's mentioned. If not, boom, you have an extra piece of furniture to do what you wish with.
Most here will probably advise the opposite because they see themselves as Kings (or Queens) of society, but honestly, if it's not mentioned to you when they contact you, obviously they don't miss it that much.
  • Wait for the company to contact you with compensation first.
Review the offer and make a decision.
  • They have offered me Ј50 a day as apparently that is all they have to give - at minute we are up to 4 days off work and one cancelled holiday plus loads stress and phone calls to an 03 number
It's driving me mad at minute looking at piece of furniture thinking I should give it back but after all hassle and chasing them for my stuff then they should chase me for a change - bear in mind for them to collect is another day off for me so any money I saved in sales has been swallowed by the loss of earnings
