A question about : EE price increase February 2015

I've just received a letter about my contract going up by 1.1%, is there anything I can do about it?

Best answers:

  • Check what your contract says about this?
  • think theyve put it in the terms now its going to happen to all i assume
    got my letter today aswell
  • well when it went up last year all you got from EE was 'their will be no material detriment to customers'
    this may help OP

  • EE, T-Mobile, Orange, Virgin Mobile and o2 UK all stipulate in their contracts since OFCOM's intervention last year that prices will rise in accordance with the RPI figure announced in February.
    From their Terms and Conditions:
    5. Annual Price Increase. Your Price Plan Charge includes an increase by the annual percentage increase in the Retail Price Index (RPI). We will do this so the price increase takes effect in March of each year (See point 7.1.4 of the terms and conditions).
7.1.4 Your Price Plan Charge and, if applicable, any Additional Commitment Service Charge includes an annual price increase, which will be the annual percentage increase in the Retail Price Index (RPI) published by the Office for National Statistics. We will give You 30 days Written Notice of the increase to take effect in March of each year and use the most recently published RPI figure before we give You Written Notice under this point 7.1.4.
Unless the increase is detrimental to the customer (such as an increase in line rental above RPI) then the only way to exit your contract would be to pay an early termination fee.
