Ј5 extra Bonus!

If you recommend a friend you can both get Ј5 extra airtime. All you need to do is enter their mobile number when you're joining up. You can then do the same for others BUT you're sim has to be already activated to be able to be the referrer. You can recommend as many people as you like but you can only recommend upto 3 people in the same household and you can't recommend yourself!

Any catches?

If you use less than Ј5 credit over a 3 month period you will be charged 75p per month. But this will be deducted from the balance of your account including the free credit you received. So simply make sure you use up the credit and then cancel the account. You can do this by logging online and clicking close account.

Some users have mentioned that if you close the account the promotional credit will be withdrawn. Customer services have said they won't do this but they will not refund any credit made up of the promotional bonus but of course companies reserve the right to change the terms and conditions of the promotion.

  Getting this message after I enter my personal details:
  "Voucher number 000-000-0000 is not valid or the number is not active. Unfortunately the referrer 000-000-0000 has already used all invitations"

• Don't buy one or more of these sim cards with the intention of using up the free credit and then binning the sim. If you don't use a certain amount of credit over a peiod of time (I think a fiver over 3 months) you are charged a small amount (I think it's about 75p a month, but it adds up!). Sorry to be vague, it's all in the terms and conditions. I moved to easy mobile about 4 months ago and it has been really good so far, no complaints at all and you can choose your own number, my mobile number and house phone number match now. Call rates are very reasonable, 15p a minute or 5p per text. There is an offer at the moment of 3p per minute or 1p text to other easy mobile users and that offer lasts up till the end of December.
  By the way, if you sign up and quote a friends number you BOTH get an additional Ј5 credit.

• thought this was a pay as you go sim card? how can they charge you anything????
• I read the terms and conditions and couldnt see anything about being charged unless you were using it for international calls when you have to have a minimum of Ј2. If its pay and go - how can you be charged anything?
• Don't know, presumably they sue you for it. You can have a negative balance on the card too but if it is negative for more than 72 hours they charge Ј5 to your account and block your sim. To be fair though you get frequent reminders about the level of your balance both through Text and email.

• So what, use the credit then close then log onto your account online and select close account. As long as you havn't gone into the minus you wont have to pay anything.
• I read that they deduct 75p per month from your account balance so presumably this reduces the balance on your phone. However if this is zero - and you only use it for the free Ј20 like I planned to do - can they access my debit card and take any more money from there now they have my details?
