A question about : Easyjet double transaction

Hey,

I was hoping someone could advice me.

I was going through my historic bank statements and I found that easyjet has double billed (Ј55) for a transaction last year.

I called easyjet and all they could confirm was that I should only have been billed once (as per the statement). The agent said that I would not have been billed twice an that they cannot help me any further.

I then called my bank and they confirmed that the transaction has been taken out twice, as per the statement, but that I need to speak to the visa debit dispute department.

I then called this department and they said that they cannot go back over a year so they can't check the transaction and that they can't help me.

The only option I'm left with is to write a letter to easyjet but god knows if/how long that would take to resolve.

A bit annoyed that I'm having to manage the problem when I feel that it wasn't my fault. Is there anything I can do to easily get a refund for this?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Best answers:

  • Thanks for your advice Pooch,
I'll drop my bank a letter and ask them to resolve it.
  • I believe 'chargeback' has a 120 day timescale, ie you must notify the bank within 120 days of becoming aware of the problem.
The bank will likely say that you were aware, or should have been aware, "last year" when you viewed and reconciled your statement(s), so you may wish to consider what reply you'll give if they take this approach.
And you've learned a valuable lesson here...check your bank account(s) more frequently, which I'm sure you'll be doing from now on.
  • poop.
    Yes, lesson learnt. Cheers.
  • Yes, the 'chargeback' protection that Visa offer as an additional to those who purcahse items on their debit card does only last for 120 days.

However, this is not a chargeback matter, but appears to be banking transaction dispute.
My previous advice still holds good
