A question about : Easyjet

What is it with me and airlines. I have been in dispute with cheesyjet since the ash cloud last year, they initially refused to pay the compo dictated under EU Law. Yesterday they eventually conceded the cost of accomodation however, they are still refusing to cough for the food element. Their reason, I don't have itemised receipts. My argument against this is, Easyjet made no communication with me at all during the delay therefore, no advice on receipts was given. I had to hire a car for the delayed period to travel to and from the airport to get up dates on flights, they have refused to pay for this and I, being reasonable have accepted this. I cannot accept the food issue. I have furnished them with bank withdrawals for more than I am actually claiming (200 euro) therefore, again I am being reasonable. Surely they must realise that during the 7 day delay I had the need to eat, irrespective of receipts. I have challenged them without success to put a price on what they would consider reasonable and have even invited them to cough up in vouchers, all without success.
My question is: Is this worth persuing considering they have already admitted a liability by paying the compo for the accomodation? or has anyone got another strategy I can try. This smacks of computer says no mentality and common sense not being applied. I have been totally polite and professional in my emails to them and have not mentioned litigation. Grateful for any advise.

Best answers:

  • Stop being so polite and threaten everything you can think of, what have you got to lose? I always try the polite route first then the gloves come off.
  • This thread is in the wrong section. I shall move it into the correct section.
