A question about : E7even

For the 3rd day running I have had no broadband.

Customers received an email saying the network would be upgraded between 28th Dec - 4th Jan.

An 0800 number was issued for those wishing to use the dialup connection whilst this was going on. I have never been able to connect to it. Neither have many other people.

I signed up to this company last June and it seemed extremely good at the time. In Nov I signed up to one of their special offers of Ј16 to double my line speed for the rest of my contract (another 18 months) which has never happened, even though they have taken the money.

Once again, (as this has happened before when customers have been left for days with no connection) I now have no connection at all. I believe they are in breach of contract and I should be able to terminate the contract (although I am taking advice on that currently).

I'm now back on dialup with another ISP.

E7even have NO customer service provision at all. When the service is working, anything other than technical support is via an 0870 answerphone only. Tech support is via an 09 Ј1 er min answerphone!

Email is seldom answered the same day.

They appear not to have a complaints procedure despite my wishing to invoke it a few weeks ago and they have failed to acknowledge this at all. Next stop possibly Ofcom?

The current situation is being extensively disccussed elsewhere on the internet by techies and customers alike who are wondering exactly what is going on.

Meanwhile - no service at all and no customer service at all is situation.

  • Sorry to hear it, icecoolbabe
I fully sympathise with you. It just isn't fair to treat people in that way.
See my earlier post for my comment.
Have you tried all three possible logins ?
    Good Luck ...
  • I've tried everything and am still on dial up with another ISP.
From discussions I've seen elsewhere there are a LOT of angry people. It seems e7even have have just left it over the weekend.
I was happy with them when I first became a customer - now I would say to people STEER CLEAR.
  • Just managed to get back on.
  • Lucky you I've been off all day and now I'm using the freephone dial up number and it is slow slow it's painful. It really is the most C R A P provider.
  • Haven't been able to get on e7broadband for several days, and you're right Ted, the 0800 connection is making me nostalgic (reminds me of my 2400bps modem in the 80s), am currently using my old (non-e7even) dial-up.
  • I havent been able to connect at home since last Wednesday. I've just discovered an e-mail saying that the username for the connection string has changed from me@e7even.com to me@e7broadband.com which I never saw because, you guessed it, I couldn't log on to see my e-mails!
As a cynic, I originally thought that they had trousered our subs and done a runner, but as an IT professsional I can also see how they may have completely screwed up an upgrade and can't recover. They may not even know who their subscribers are any more, and I suspect that their e-mail server may also be exploring its inbox limits.
  • I'm still off and have had no email telling me to (or How to) change my connection setup.
The dial up alternative is atrocious. The AVG update which usually flashes past before you see it is taking over 30 minutes and thats if it holds the connection that long.
I've reported the situation a few times but as yet no reply at all to my emails. It really is a dreadful warning to anyone stupid enough to consider their latest offer. Anyone any idea why the previous e7even thread was closed.?
I presume it was because the sentiments of e7en victims are so furious their sentiments cannot be expressed in sufficiently civil terms.
  • There are numerous very worrying rumours now that e7even is about to fold.
    Very lengthy discussions at
    https://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/postlist...=&Board=e7even
I've still got no broadband and no replies to ANY emails. The home page at e7even carries no further information and the 'network status' update simply has yet another one liner saying they are working on it.
    Utterly disgraceful customer service.
  • I tried to get on at 9am this morning and neither dial-up or broadband were functioning.
At 10-15ish I retried and broadband appeared superzippy.
This site loaded in less than a blink but as soon as I'd posted my reply in the benefitsforum it died. The dial-up accepted my login though so it looks like they are working on the problem and haven't done a runner.
  • As an e7even'er who was royally messed around for a week in early Nov (4-6 weeks later than promised) with a move to an 'upgraded' Local Loop Unbundling - LLU ADSL connection that was nothing of the sort, I have some consolation that on that LLU link the speeds and service haven't been messed around over the last 2 months in the way that many others' service has been.
The thing that really puzzles me is that e7ven don't put an HOURLY bulletin on their website to let the tens/hundreds of VERY annoyed (and justifiably) paying customers know exactly what's going on. Instead they every 1-2 days say it's still broken...
Nor is there a FAQ about the way they've messed around with log-in IDs and networks for many users.
This has given rise to a LOT of very frustrated users who are naturally having to try as individuals to get some sense out of them - and failing as e7even isn't a large organisation. Seems to me that they've set off a support burden snowball that will turn into an avalanche later this week and overwhelm them.
  • Where have all the e7even promoters like "e7 is great" gone to, I have to ask. There were quite a few warning signs, let's hope it isn't a permanent problem!! There are a lot more comments on this thread as well:- https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/....html?t=126082
  • Money upfront was a warning sign and more cash upfront to up-grade speed was another.
Hope it gets sorted out for all who subscribed.
    Reminds me of Breathe ISP.
  • There has be NO update at all to the status on the e7even site for today.
    This is totally inexcusable.
    I still have no connection.
My question now is - how do I get a MAC number to transfer elsewhere if e7even continue to REFUSE to communicate. All my emails and messages have been ignored.
  • I had an email from e7 2 hours ago saying I should be able to connect now. Guess what, still no broadband.
  • The plot thickens....
Sick of trying the 0800 dial-up, I dug out the Smartcom modem I got when I joined e7even. Had only used it for a week or so then I changed to a Linksys WiFi modem/router - I can now connect again.!! (was getting PPoA Authorisation Fail with the Linksys).
Will have to have more of a dig when I get chance, but either my router has turned its toes up (unlikely or it wouldn't be trying to connect) or some subtle change has been made at the other end (worked ok for about 36 hours after the change to e7broadband).
The bad news is that it's still slower (but cheaper) than my old dial-up account... (but faster than the e7 0800)
  • Read these excellent posts by Rex-Mundi and GuyWise about E7, on this thread. The thread has now been closed , don't know why, but I think maybe referrals for any particular company should be regularly reviewed.

  • Hi Roses - dunno if it is a retry thing as I'm using the Smartcom via ethernet (it does both ethernet and usb). Getting same sort of speed as you today (was running around twice as fast yesterday - the full 75k...! not bad for a 1meg line).
Stop press - speed just shot up to 120k (for a few seconds) - maybe they change hamsters at 7:30.
ps - has also lost the link to newsgroups (downloads all the the 0 headers pretty quick though)
