A question about : DooYoo

I've opened a new discussion thread about the DooYoo site where you can write review and earn 'miles' which can be exchanged for Amazon vouchers or cash.

Website is www.dooyoo.co.uk although there is currently a referral offer available (see over on the Referrers' Board for more info. Please don't post any referral links on this thread.)

It may be better to avoid posting your DooYoo name on this thread to avoid any suggestion of breaching DooYoo policies and conventions (as you earn more 'miles' for people reading your reviews.) The previous discussion thread can be seen HERE

Happy reviewing! title=Wave

  • Given IDs are listed on the old thread and it can't be edited, can I please ask for the thread to be deleted?
    Thanks.
  • If you have any questions about the site, contact a guide. They know more than most other members about the running of the site and will be able to help you if you're having difficulties. You can contact any of the guides with any issue.
Failing that, here's that list of forums again. Yes, it was posted in the previous thread that they're not busy. All it would take is a couple of you to join up and that's no longer an issue, is it? Either of those first two are probably just looking for fresh blood… the last one does look dead admittedly.
Anyway, those forums in full (again):

  • If you read our Terms & Conditions, you'll notice that we can block your dooyoo account for anything we suspect is against dooyoo policy. Generally our members are great, but we do sometimes have problems, particularly with dishonest generation of dooyooMiles. There are several situations that will cause dooyoo to block your account for dishonest generation of dooyooMiles. The first is what we call a 'clicking cartel', where many accounts work quickly to generate dooyooMiles for one member, or each other. It's not a bad thing, of course, to read all the reviews of your favourite dooyoo authors, but over the years there have been some rather complicated schemes along those lines. All we can say is don't plot with your friends to rapidly rate each other's reviews - it isn't the purpose of dooyoo and it doesn't work.
Also please don't create multiple accounts. dooyoo can identify when a user has multiple accounts and it isn't allowed, especially not when you use one account to generate dooyooMiles for the others!
Sneaky reviews that just scrape in over our premium review limit (150 words) but do not contain 150 words of genuine consumer review, instead being padded with lists, repetitions, or other non-relevant material are also counted as abuse. We probably shouldn't have to be specific but just in case; for a recipe or food review, for example, a list of ingredients is fine but only if there are at least 150 words of genuine review. Similarly, repeated sentences (or whole paragraphs!), using punctuation to reach the minimum word limit, or some other kind of 'word limit fraud' is considered abuse.
Last but not least is 'rapid clicking'. This is when you click as fast as you can through a friend's reviews to generate dooyooMiles for them. While everyone sometimes clicks through a review quickly if it wasn't what you were looking for, if it becomes a trend (and you do it many times in a row) your activity officially becomes dooyoo abuse.
Just thought some people should read this.
  • Yay! Brand new thread!
  • I've had a few pm's asking if the original DooYoo thread can be deleted as people aren't able to remove their DooYoo usernames from the thread.
The thread itself contained lots of useful info about DooYoo so I've kept the main content of the thread and just removed those (110!) posts that contained DooYoo usernames. Hopefully any allegations of clicking cartels should die away now.
  • I am glad there is a new thread!
I just did one review today but through looking at other new reviews I have found some really good ideas for presents for new babies rather than the usual things. That's an added bonus about dooyoo, finding some well written reviews by other people that make you think about buying something else. There was also an excellent review about Poole and it made me want to go there too!
I have received one Ј10 voucher and have sent off for another one so when I get that I am going to order my sisters birthday present. I also do survey sites and they are all starting to round off to the Ј10 mark so have requested Amazon vouchers for them too.
  • Hi all, I am a Guide on dooyoo (dididave Shopping Guide). I think everyone can get a lot from dooyoo as long as they give what they take. Simple as that. If you rate as much as you are rated (which is quite easy you know) you will find that you get more from the site.
I know it is tempting to post a load of 150 word reviews so you can clock up the miles and cash out as quickly as possible but you will inevitably start to lose out as people stop reading your reviews and although you may find it lucrative in the short term (as long as you keep within the site rules), in the long term your earnings will inevitably suffer.
  • If anyone does have any questions about the site BTW I would be happy to answer them.
  • Evening all!
I've been using Dooyoo for a while now and am very close to being able to claim my Ј10 Amazon voucher... Question is, do I leave it and wait until I can claim the Ј50 cash instead? What would you be more inclined to do?
  • Do you really need the Ј10.00 voucher right now, leave it and go for the Ј50.00 cheque. If you get fed up waiting you could cash in at anytime now you have the required miles.
  • Dear All,
I am feeling down because there is a pain in the neck guide on dooyoo who constantly disses my reviews (ok generally speaking it's probably deserved!) - Normally I wouldn't care but I did a review of Happy Feet and said the animation was so good and lifelike that at times it was almost like watching a nature programme.
So, the guide (let's not name him because that's why we closed the last thread!) comments 'what are the effects like?' So I email him coz seriously enough is enough and I am sick of him finding things to moan about that aren't there. (Not just with my reviews but everyone's who isn't a fellow guide). What the hell does he think the effects are like? It's a cartoon and it is so good it's almost lifelike... so in my humble opinion the effects are um, well, how can I put this... LIFELIKE!
Anyway, I wanted a moan coz Jmarko is always going on about what a nice bunch of people his invisible friends on MSE are.
P.S. I am 8 months pregnant and hormonal but that hasn't got anything to do with it so nobody say it does. Right?!
  • No offence, but why post at all? You've basically admitted that the guide in question has probably correct in their comments on most of your reviews so why come on here on the rare occasion that you feel he got it "wrong"? You've emailled him, that should be enough.
I'd be more concerned about the fact you've posted 109 reviews in a week, rated 500 and been rated over 740 times or the "Excellent review. Nominated!" comment from a certain member...
There's a dooyoo guide who has come on to the thread and posted information and offered themselves up to give help and advice and yet members like that one above are "thanked" for whining about the site or starting a new thread (and hiding all the evidence of the cartel stuff).
    Sometimes I wonder about people.
  • Hi, sorry, Jmarko's Wifey, but I have read several of your reviews, and i am afraid that the things the guide and others have to say are spot on. You are just cranking out the reviews, and while theya re somewhat useful or useful, not really up to scratch for people who are coming to the site via Google looking for one stop information from a consumer. People don't want to have to flit to other websites to read more about stuff, nor do they want to have to read a hundred reviews before being able to make up their minmds. they want ONE place and a handful of opionions, so taking the time to hone descriptive skills and ponder what a consumer is looking for when researching a product. No one is trying to be mean to anyone. The site is a business, and they want the reviews to be of a certain high standard, and give rewards to encourage people to write to that standard.Per haps instead of getting wound up, you should take a step back, read some of the crowned reviews in the category you wish to write your review in, and see just what yours is lacking so you can improve. Better reviews menas more reads, more reads more chance of getting nominations for a free Ј1.50 worth of crowns. I amke Ј10-20 a week on Dooyoo, just with 1-2 reviews a day. I went through getting the suggestions for improvements and so on, and took it all onboard and saw my reviewing skills improve so that quality yielded this many points, rather than quanitity.Esp given that on sites like these, turning out more than 3 reviews a day is considered churning, and the majority of community members will shun a writer for that, so that a person will find return reads dwindle.
  • I just posted my first review and within minutes got bad feedback, can’t be arsed with it to be honest. Looks like it takes ages to earn cash.
  • I just looked over your review, and I don't see any bad feedback. What i saw was constructive criricism meant to point you towards improving your review to get higher ratings and rewards.Taking thata dvice will get the cash flowing sooner with less effort at writing multiple reviews.
  • I don't have a problem with how people rate reviews. I like to be honest in mine and I appreciate other people being honest when they rate me. And if someone has something constructive to say about a review, I will take it on board and amend that review if I am able to. Also, comments on reviews are useful and I enjoy reading and writing them.
What I do object to is being criticised continually by a certain guide who is actually quite offensive in his emails, which obviously I can't relay completely here. I have read his comments on other people's reviews and he is exactly the same so I'm not taking it personally. I just thought I would mention it. Wish I hadn't bothered.
Also, I don't know why I keep getting hassled for writing lots of reviews. I am off work sick at the moment so I am literally able to do this all day. If I was working full time I would probably be writing one review a week.
I can't believe how rude some people are. I would never dream of emailing someone I have never met and know nothing about, and criticise them. Another guide emailed me with constructive criticism, a few emails went back and forth and I found her advice really helpful and I improved my reviews as a result. It's not that I can't take criticism, it is that I don't like people who are rude. There is no excuse for it. I think everyone should have a little more consideration for how their comments will affect the person receiving them.
I am getting so fed up with all this I think I might just quit.
  • As an aside, does anyone know how to delete an mse account? I'm done with forums. It's more my husband's bag and I think if I delete my account then I won't be tempted to post anymore! I can't be trusted simply not to use it - I've never been good with temptation!
If anyone can help, big thanks in advance!
