A question about : Does the DDIndemnity scheme cover for services not received?
Does the DDIndemnity scheme cover for services not received?
I paid for a boiler maintenance scheme a few years ago but never received a service(part of scheme) from them. I kept calling as the first year end was drawing in and they kept telling me a service will come but they are very busy. The year end came and after a call no service. I then cancelled my DD (I needed the money) because there was no way I was going to carry on until I received the benefit of my plan. I called again and they said they didn't have an account on which to charge a service(!) now so I wasn't getting one. I wrote and complained but never heard anything.
Now, my boiler is playing up and I'm struggling to pay for an engineer but my brother informs me I should be able to claim on the DD indemnity and then use the money for an actual engineer. Is this right, please? I've been searching line already but cannot find anything specific.
Thanks for any help.
Best answers:
- The DDI only covers payments that are wrongly taken - which is not the case here. At the time they were correct payments, and they ceased to be correct when you cancelled the DD. If I read you right none have been taken since then
- If you can prove everything, your only option is Small Claims Court
