A question about : Do who ARE the best for broadband?

AKA how long is a piece of string?

We currently have the most basic broadband deal from Timico cos my husbands work pays for it.

It's not good. I have frustrated children as it doesn't keep up with their games. So we are changing.

I am thinking PlusNet.

We have fibre something or other.

I am not very technical.

So basically, is there such thing as the best broadband around or is it hit & miss.

Husband would probably go with BT and then we could stop paying for BT sports, but I'm not a big fan on BT.

• There is no universal 'best', it depends on what is available on your exchange. Plusnet is invariably cheaper than BT and you can now get BT Sport via PN.
  You are aware that PN is owned by the BT Group though?
  If you already have FTTC (fibre to the cabinet) then you should have plenty of speed for gaming online.
  What actual speeds are you getting, and what speed does the supplier say your line should support?
  I'd suspect that there is an isue with the line or your internal set up, but much more info needed, so run a speedtest (using ethernet not wi-fi) and post the results.
  The other options (dependent on your exchange) are the LLU services from Sky and TalkTalk
• I would second your doubts about BT. We have been without broadband for 8 days now as BT have delayed the switchover date for 4 weeks and our previous provider have cut us off. No one at BT can tell us what is causing the delay, they don't seem to have a clue what's going on and we have no date for when they intend to provide a service. We're already looking at alternatives...PlusNet is a possibility and, if I was in an area VirginMedia supply, they would also have been in the mix.

  If you have BT fibre then your Plusnet fibre will be identical .
• Timico is presumably a BT reseller?
• If you are not paying for the Timico setup, don't touch it.
  Just get a second broadband connection. Non-fibre is dirt cheap these days. You could even get it thrown in free if you go for a Sky TV deal.
• I've only been with them a few weeks and already had more issues with service than I had with years with BT.

• I am in an area Virgin Media supply. Use them at your peril. By the time you find out that instead of the 'Super-fast fibre optic broadband' they advertise and charge you for ,you will be GETTING the snail speeds they actually provide, it will be too late.
