A question about : Discount wedding dresses in Glasgow

Does anyone know of any other wedding dress outlet stores in/near Glasgow other than the outlet store in the basement of Berketex at 38 Bath street?

  • Hi
If you dont mind my asking, have you set a budget for your dress? Although its not discount, Angelique Lamont in Howard Street has some very reasonable dresses. I got mine from there and was given the option to buy the display one for Ј250 ,i didnt as I had budgeted 800 for my dress so i just paid to have a brand new one, Which was only Ј475!! It was the most perfect dress and i fell in love with it as soon as i saw it!
But if you buy the x display ones they pay for the cleaning of them.
    Hope this helps.
  • Cheers Davesmum. I will take a look at Angelique Lamont. My mum said she'll give us up to Ј600 for a dress, but anything we don't spend we can use to pay for other parts of the wedding.

  • Thats kind of your mum. With that budget you could get a stunning dress! Debenhams wedding collection is also beautiful and fairly reasonable.
  • If you look in city shops then you'll pay a lot more than if you went to a smaller town or a shop that was further out.
With the city shops, moat of the price tag is to pay for the shops overheads so stick to more 'out of the way' areas or maybe someone who works from home.
An alternative is to find a couple of dresses you like and look on E-Bay. There are a few very reputable sellers who sell brand new dresses but because they have no overhads as a shop does they can pass the savings to you. You may well not find the make but for example if you find a wedding dress with red flowers that you like, search for 'red flowers wedding dress'.
Jewlz sells some styles from a known brand but doesn't advertise the brand itself.
If you need any help feel free to send me a message.
  • Thanks for the advice. Been trying on dresses today for the first time... Strange feeling.

  • I am a bit annoyed that this post was moved. Yes - it's about Glasgow, but it's also about wedding dresses. If I was looking for advice about weddings I would go to the weddings board rather than the Scotland board.
I made the name of the thread very clear so that people who had knowledge of Glasgow could help and others could skim over it. I really don't see that it was neccessary to move it into a Scotland-specific board.
If I were asking about wedding dresses in London would I have been moved to the England board?

  • I can only agree with you KG as I made the same point myself but a couple of posts were moved here to start the board off.
I can now move this post back to the Family board if you would like.
Hopefully soon we will be able to have some threads on the Scotland board that will relate in some way to a Scotland Board.
  • Thank you.

  • Hi there KG
In reply to your first message - have you tried Monsoon? I got my dress out of there last summer and it ended up only costing my Ј30!!! And it was gorgeous!
They have some lovely wedding dresses, which you can just get altered to fit. I had mine ordered in, as they didn't have my size, and it came in on the 1st day of the summer sale - so they gave me it at half price! And I got shoes to match (at a third of the price). Then at the checkout the girl convinced me to take out an account card (which I never do) and get the payment protection. This entitles you to the lowest price the item gets to in the sale (provided it's within 100 days of purchase) and it covers you for any damages that happen to the dress (again within 100 days). So I went back at the end of the sale - and my dress had been reduced to Ј30, as they weren't carrying that line over into the new season! This also applies to any of their clothes, so you can go in at the beginning of the sale, buy what you like, and then wait till the end and get the final prices - then claim all the money back.
And they don't look cheap - everyone at my wedding thought my dress was fantastic - especially the few who knew how much it had cost!
Also, if you don't see anything you like in there (the stuff just coming in will be nicer than the winter collection) you could try The Bridal Company on the South Side of Glasgow https://www.thebridalcompany.co.uk/
I didn't go to them but they've got a really good reputation.
Anyway, hope you find something gorgeous!
  • KG you have a pm
  • KG, as in fact there have been another couple of replies to your thread I will copy this across to the Family Board and see how that works
