A question about : Dentist Implants !!! Rip off

Hi everyone

I am in the process of looking at implants to secure dentures the cost is basically Ј15000 per ark. Ј30,000 a full set

However the actual implants retail to dentists at Ј45 - Ј150 each

So let look at 4 top implants and 4 bottom and a pair of excellent dentures

Dentures Ј2000
8 implants @ Ј4000 with a decent profit

Total Ј6000 but we pay Ј30,000

Mini implants are cheaper however I have no problem with anyone making a profit but this is so wrong, further investigation shows not only implants but other dental work is extortionate too !!!!

Thoughts?

• Get the work done overseas.
• I personally don't do implants. The person I refer to spent Ј250,000 training and equipping to place implants on top of the costs of equipping and running his dental practice. He has to pay thousands more each year for his professional indemnity and thousands each year in training to maintain his skills.
  To buy all the bits for one implant system ie chucks,drills,implants,surgical jigs , healing plugs,abutments etc cost. Ј15,000.
  On top of this is the cost of the lab work etc to restore the implants.
  He estimates the cost of all the bits, lab work etc is around
  Ј1300 an implant/tooth.
  On top of this are the costs of the many hours of surgery time over several months and many visits that complex treatment like this would take.
  The costs of running a dental surgery set up for implants will be in excess of Ј200 an hour. But then how much does a main dealer garage charge for their services ?
• Oh goody another illogical "rip off" rant
• Just don't have them.
  Or maybe you can hire a handy man with a power drill and screw driver to install them for you.
  People don't go through years of training and maintain expensive premises and equipment to work 'at cost' or 'near cost'
  People who value their skills will pay the fees. You clearly do not. Best not to have you as a patient.
• I'm going to get implants (my choice).
  I'm expecting a technician to make me a custom crown/ tooth from a mould of my other teeth. I expect this to be a bespoke height and size.
  I'm not getting cheap standard parts.
  I'm choosing uk not abroad but you can get it done cheaper abroad.
  Just db aware of the aftercare and liability issues.
• I asked an accountant to do my annual accounts.
  They printed them on 4 sheets of paper.
  Paper costs about 1p per sheet and maybe another 5p for the ink.
  So 24p total cost but they want to charge me Ј220.00
  What a rip off.
