A question about : Delivery Saver Offers

I am considering doing a Delivery Saver scheme with Tesco and wondered what everyone's opinion was?
Thanks in advance.

Best answers:

  • I'm happy with it. I have the midweek one, costs me Ј3 a month. Drivers are friendly and helpful, they will take the shopping right through to the kitchen.I haven't had any seriously bad substitutions or poor quality veg. In fact most substitutions have been bigger pack sizes or better quality for the same price. I get the heavy stuff and special offers delivered, top up on seasonal veg on the market and in Home Bargains for cheaper toiletries.
It also includes free delivery on Tesco Direct over Ј10 and Tesco Wine which can be useful.
Some delivery slots are only a pound, maybe you could try them a couple of times first?
  • I have the full week one (Ј6 a month), and echo what Reen said. I'm housebound much of the time, and I'll usually have 2 smaller deliveries a week (one on a Sunday so I have the kids packed lunch stuff for Monday) so it most definitely saves me money.
Along with the additional Tesco Direct free delivery, you also get a reuseable code for free delivery at F&F too.
  • I am considering this myself at the moment, the main reason for me to do it would be to stop spending too much in the supermarket on impulse buys!
One of the things that is putting me off is that it makes you feel as if you have to shop at that supermarket and not look for the best deals around. A bit like going on an all inclusive holiday and staying in the hotel because you have already paid for it, and then you're missing out on lots of other things.
  • I used to shop at the nearby Morrisons but got fed up of the poor quality and selection of their veg and long checkout queues. Doesn't stop me popping in now and again to pick up the odd bargain though!
  • I've done the delivery saver scheme since they started it and I'm very happy with it. They lowered the prices and then sometimes give me a discount code to use too, so at the moment I think I'm paying Ј4.50 for the any time slots. I usually get one big shop a week but occasionally I get two - with the minimum only being Ј25, if I need just a couple of things it's not much of a a stretch to add on a few things we always need - cleaning stuff, shampoo etc - to reach Ј25 so it's not wasting money.
The drivers are always friendly and will take food to the kitchen (I ask them to drop it at the front door). Occasionally they are late but they text in advance to apologise and if I've had to nip out to collect my daughter from school when they arrive late, if I stick a note on the door they will wait for me with no complaints.
Substitutes are usually pretty good and it's easy to send things back. They have never quibbled if I've asked for a refund on fruit that isn't up to standard (happens once every few months, usually on things that are out of season).
If you've not shopped online with Tesco before, I would try a few of the cheaper delivery slots before signing up just in case you don't get on with it but I think it's worth the money. It would cost me more in petrol to drive to the supermarket once a week. I think it does take a month or two to really get the best from any supermarket when you switch (if you don't want to shop around), as you get used to what ranges are decent, when offers are likely to happen etc, so I would give it a little time if you're not immediately impressed.
