  • Thanks CTC. Those links will make for some interesting reading when I winter comes.
Can I echo the bit about joining in? There's no need to commit to post regularly, but if you're out there, reading, it would be great to hear from you, especially in parts of the country we don't cover.
  • Ohh a shiny new thread, which appears to have stretched somewhat on my screen
Wet and windy here today. Brother and family arrived last night, and have gone off to Bury St Ed's for a couple of hours so house currently quiet.
Sorry for your sad news alfie and Rozee
Afraid I have no suggestions for you on the back of a used Ј10 note Dave - as I don't even understand the question, but am happy to be 'educated' as you update us all.
Computer wars are ongoing in the BD household. Put the new HDD in my lappy, installed all 157 Windows updates, all going well.....turned lappy on the next morning and it's not at all happy - got the 'black screen of death' first thought it was a dodgy hdd, but now probably an issue with drivers. So am gathering my energy to resume the battle next week. If the worst comes to the worst I can always put the old HDD in, but don't like to be beaten by the bloomin' thing.......
  • Shiny new thread, thank you for keeping this going CTC. Sorry I am only just posting photos. My garden is a very funny shape so I can't even describe it, there are also different levels but here are a few shots. It currently needs a very good tidy up and I'm about to start some projects so these are photos from various times:
I'm going to try a test with one because I'm trying Flickr for the first time!
  • Clearly flickr doesn't like me and I can't copy links from photobucket for some reason. Grrrr.
  • Quiet day.
All achieved was foundinrates dug over about three or four metres of bed.
    Somethings better than nothing right?
Tomorrow has to be electric fencing moving day. I hate setting up electric fencing.
  • Sorry guys I cannot work out Flickr and for some reason since doing an update on my iPad the ability to copy links has gone for some strange reason. I will keep trying.
  • You moved without telling me are you trying to shake me off??
  • I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog alfie. It's heartbreaking, but it sounds as though she had a good life with lots of love. My thoughts are with you too rozeepozee.
I'm glad to hear your roof is finally in place Davesnave, temporary or otherwise. It sounds like you did it in the nick of time as it really bucketed down here this morning.
I've been very busy this week as we have started to renovate the two flats we recently purchased. One of them has to be completely gutted so I've been ripping up carpets, stripping wallpaper, hacking tiles off the wall, cleaning and painting and I am completely knackered. I'm also feeling rather overwhelmed as I'm now very behind with my work and my housework.
  • Helloooooo, found you, can't get rid of me that easily!

  • Nice-ish day forecast, so I will try to dig holes and put extra support poles behind the extended hen house today, to prevent it toppling over in a gale. Hens will be amused, I expect. They like a bit of action in their pen, but not as much as they had on Friday when the digger went in!
Speaking of the hens reminds me, our Lila cat is a total head-case. DW went into the hen house to pick up eggs and found her fast asleep in one of the nest boxes. She just looked up as if to say, "Well, these bird things come in here and have a rest, so I thought I'd give it a go!"
    Hens were not amused.
We have strong winds forecast, but they are supposed to come from the south, which is a better side for our fragile roofing material. We are not planning to do more work up there until Tuesday, as tomorrow looks foul.
Yes, Baba, we really should have sorted this roof earlier, but others, who were all well-paid, let us down. There's a lack of urgency in these parts, which is charming most of the time....
  • Alfie - no they're all Japanese, just the names for the different colour patterns. They've been fine with each other since they all hatched together in May until recently. Now I've just got to see if these two continue to get along with each other or whether I have to split them up.
  • I'm having the morning off - just stuck a load of washing in the machine and am contemplating whether to try and catch up with the seven episodes of The X Factor I have stored up on my Sky+ box.
It's definitely autumnal now, I actually put the heating on last night for the first time in ages. Nice hazy sunshine here at the moment though.
Tomorrow I have a VAT Return to tackle.........
