CTC (again!) how long can it take?

A question about : CTC (again!) how long can it take?

I applied for CTC as a single person on 7/12. and so far have heard nothing, everytime I ring they say its awaiting award but they have had PC problems for the last 5 weeks !
I am struggling on IS alone and really need the child element of CTC.
I have written to my MP (as suggested a few times on here) and heard nothing
I have also been to my local tax office to see about an interim payment (as sugested by inland rev) but they couldnt help me as they said I had to have proof of entitlment.
I dont know what to do to speed things up - I am desperate now for some money as I have bills to pay etc.
Does anyone have any advice?

  You could try for a Crisis Loan from the Social Fund. Phone your JobcentrePlus or equivalent and ask for the Social Fund (I don't know if they will give you a loan in this situation but it's worth a try). You could try a different MP (?) as some will be better than others.
