A question about : Csa Problem

Hi

Could someone advise me please? I was receiving CSA money from an ex partner who was working in a factory. The problem is that the factory has been closed down due to unforseen circumstances and the whole of the staff have been made redundant.

Can someone tell me whether this means i will not receive my money anymore until he gets a new job or what? Im really confused and cannot get hold of the CSA. I cannot do without this money at the moment.

• if your ex partner isn't working he won't be paying you anymore, but i think if he's on benefits he will pay Ј5 a week?

• Big hugs burbs. Unfortunately until your ex finds another job you aren't likely to receive anything or maybe a very small amount.
  I have spoken out in the past about the tax credit system disregarding maintainace as income. As your tax credit money will not change even though you will now receive a reduced income to previously (this is assuming you work anyway -which I'm guessing you do as you would otherwise you would only be able to receive a certain amount before it affected IS).
  If you're struggling on your new budget, if you post on the relevent boards, people should be able to help with advice.
• the only way you get payments is if the childs father makes payments. If he has no income it is unlikely he will be in a position to do this. If he claims benefits depending what legislation your case is assessed on an assessment in Ј5 may be put in place which is collected by the benefit agency at their descretion if it on new rules. On old rules the case would be a nil assessment until he starts work.

• silly moo indeed, as if he lost his job purely to stop paying child support :rolleyes:
  not sure of the situation of the OP - if you're on income support i'd imagine you can just tell them he's lost his job so won't be paying you direct and then they can adjust your income support accordingly. i assume you're not on IS though because there's the option to have the CSA collect the money and for you to not be involved at all, most people would take that option unless they totally trusted their ex partner to reliably pay.
  if you're on tax credits, or not on benefits at all i think it is just hard luck, if the ex isn't paying you have to manage without. i know several people in that situation, it's the same with my ex although he's never paid anything so i haven't lost money i've ever come to rely on. it is of course different for you if your budget includes money you're used to getting from him.
  i hope he gets a new job soon! if he got redundancy money he might give you some of that voluntarily, it depends, some fathers would, others wouldn't.
