A question about : CSA With 3 Children

Morning All,

I'm after a bit of advise on what might happen next if anyone could do me a calculation or offer some advise if possible?

I have 3 children and I'm the NRP, I have 2 girls and 1 boy.

I see my oldest daughter everyday, my son overnight every weekend (or soon to be every weekend) and I don't see my youngest daughter at all for various reasons.

I currently pay CSA via DOE from work for the youngest and pay the other two PWC directly.

I'm looking into moving in with my oldest daughters mum however we are trying to work out if this is financially viable.

If we move in together, what will happen to the eldest payments? Will they stop (obviously we would sort things between ourselves for her) and if so will it change the amounts for the other two? SO it'll be more like 15% instead of 20% currently?

Thanks

Best answers:

  • if you move in together then you will not be liable for CSA payments for your eldest daughter.
I assume you are on CSA2 so as you are only paying for the youngest then the CSA would continue what they already take (15% net pay) and you can give the middle childs mother whatever you want.
If you go through the CSA for both kids then you would probably be moved to the new gross scheme, certainly for the new child, not sure if youngest would also be moved over as a linked case.
  • Hi Shoe
Thanks for that, I'm paying for all 3 however I opted to pay my eldest daughter and son PWC directly (same amount just direct to the bank instead of an AOE order via work) but all with amounts registered by CSA. In other words CSA are aware of all 3 and my payments are based on the figures they give me.
I believe I'm currently paying 20% so in basic terms, would it be like paying for 2 @ 15% if we moved in?
Eldest is 6 and I've only been dealing with CSA in the last 2-3 years if that helps, I can't say what scheme I'm currently on?
Also I know it seems strange, but could I continue paying for all 3 via CSA?
  • 3 children under CSA is 25% of your income. If you have been with CSA since after 2003 then you are on CSA2.
If you move in with eldest one then payments would drop to 20% but no, you cannot continue to pay for all 3 if you live with a child. Thats fraud
  • On CSA2, you would be paying 25% of net income for 3 children.
If you were living with child 1, you would get a 15% taken off your net income to take into account that child before being assessed on 20% of what's remaining - does that make sense!?
