  • Hi Martin,
Noticed a 9 month 0% deal from Halifax that's not on your list. !You need to take the following link :-
    https://www.halifaxcards.co.uk/NASAp...l&special=
    :
  • Make sure you copy the entire text from the above email into your browser (ie. the end bit should read card=9_mth_intro_pl&special= ) otherwise the application will FAIL !!!
Martin Note I have amended your link above so it now works.
  • Hi
I got a letter in the post today from Ryan Air/MBNA.
The offer is 0% on balance transfers until 1st May 2004 but it is 15.9% APR.
Apply before 26th August and use card before 14 October and get a guranteed free return flight.
Purchase 10 Ryan Air return flights with card and get a free return flight.
Free Travel Accident Insurance Ј250,000 when buying flight tickets with card.
The telephone number with this offer is 0800 776 262
I have checked the website but it does not appear to have this offer. Info on credit card states 1.9% balance transfer for 6 months only.
The letter says FOR EVERY NEW CUSTOMER so I dont see why it cant be available to all. If not keep an eye out in the post
  • Hiya. The above is a good offer. However remember 'being open to all new customers' isn't the same as open to all.
There are often direct mail offers, which are targetted. You need to get the invite to count in the 'new customers' it is open to. However this does not mean they are generally available. The full Monty list is 'open to all' cards. It's always worth checking your direct mail offers + often very good offers are available as direct sign ups in shopping centres.

  • And free flight doesn't mean Ј0. Free (apart from fees, charges and taxes) or some such phrase.
  • The flight also wouldn't be free because the card is 0% on balance transfers only. Where it says "use" the card before 14 October I assume this means spend on it rather than doing a bt, so you would be charged interest on this spending.
  • 1. Spend to qualify for flight
    2. Pay off entire balance
    3. Balance transfer at 0%
    Ta da!
  • ... and as if by magic the great Galstonian did appear.
Well done. I should have thought of that :. I think this heat has permanently frazzled my brain.
  • Motley Fool have an exclusive deal on the Halifax card of 9 months at 0%, could be the same as the link potsed by Paul Lockett above.

  • Hi Martin and all,
I looked at the link for the Amex Blue card with the free digital camera (https://home3.americanexpress.com/uk/...;AFFID=cpevinv) - as on the site and in the email - and it appears that they have changed the terms on this card... it is no longer 4.9% for life on balance transfers, but rather a 6 month introductory rate of 2.9% and then it goes up to 9.9%
    ... unless I'm missing something?
    All the best
  • Good spot. THe promo BT rate is now 2.9% for 6 months followed by 9.9% life of balance.
I will go change the article.
PS the normal Blue card (via its own site) is still 4.9% life of balance
  • MBNA have started offering interest free balance transfers to their existing customers.
    0% until 18 April 2004 = 8 months.
Pretty good as otherwise I'd have had to switch twice in that time.
  • Hi Martin, great site. I love saving money so thanks for all your info.
Just been sent some junk mail from the Royal Bank of Scotland, they are offering 0% on purchases and balance transers until 1st June 2004 and 16.9% thereafter - think this will be my next card
  • Is it the Egg card that is missing
  • Hi Martin,
Applied on line for RBS Advanta U card. Most I could get appeared to be 9 months not 10 ?
    Please advise.
    Thanks, Dean.
Also, borrowing Ј185,000 for a part repayment part interest only mortgage can you find a better 5 year fixed rate than 4.45% ?
  • Sorry Martin, forgot to say aswell, no mention of free personal CD player ???
  • Trustcard from Lloyds TSB is offering 0% on purchases and balance transfers until 1 Sept 2004 - thats 10 months by my calcs.
