A question about : CPP & Barclays overdrafts

Hi I have two questions. First I followed your advice about CPP to reclaim their premiums. I asked for a claim form and was told it would be about 10 days. They confirmed I had a valid policy and that the claim form was probably sent to my old address. Nothing arrived. I called again as the deadline was close and was told that the form could not be sent out to me as I had already had a claim on my insurance. This was when I was robbed when overseas and lost my credit cards, driving licence and cash. The girl told me that I wouldn't receive any more than I had already been paid out so I could not make a claim and that I should contact Bank of America through whom I had my BT credit card. Is this correct ??

Secondly while sorting through old paperwork I found a policy document with Barclays - Barclays Personal Overdraft Protection. taken out in September 2005. This account is now closed, however, I do still bank with Barclays and now hold an Additions account with them for which I pay a monthly fee and currently have a continuing overdraft. Is this the type of policy on which I can make a claim and will it affect my current banking status with the Bank as I am still a customer ?

Thanks

  • Hi to anyone out there. I posted 2 questions on 17 August and was wondering if anyone can give me a response ? as time is running out on the CPP question.

  • Is it possible to claim refund for barclays overdraft protection fees?
We were sold this as part of taking out our extended overdraft because i am in paid employment, but my husband is self-employed & i'm not sure that the policy would oven cover us, i raised this with the bank clerk but they insisted we go ahead with it anyway. It is quite an expense per month, & when i asked at the bank they fobbed me off & said they no longer sell the product & so would have to contact the insurance company direct?
    Can anyone help please?
  • Yes, you can claim on Personal Overdraft Protection. There have been a few threads of other people having success on the forum.
Put your complaint together and send it in to Barlcays, ideally with the Consumer Questionnaire you can find on the Financial Ombudsman website.
