A question about : Council Tax Bill demand from 1998

Please can anyone help !

I have just been sent a council tax demand this week from a property we lived in 17 years ago, Which I'm sure I have paid but can't confirm as I am unable to check back Bank statements because I only keep them for 6 years.

(Is there not a Time limit to how long a debt is overdue?)

Desperately seeking advice!!!!

  • In England & Wales,
    They can issue a bill after this time - whether or not they can enforce payment or not is another matter.
    Has a liability order been granted for the balance ?
