A question about : Cold caled by ScotishPower

I was cold called yet again...

Anyway I was at work I said call back later and they did. I tried to get meter readings to hand. But I found the gas meter catch was broken so couldn't take a reading, (I've called SSE about this since I assume it was the person taking the last meter reading that broke it!).

When ScottishPower called back the guy said it was his first day on the job. He said I could save by switching to their new rate that had just come out. (I'm on SSE Fixed Price Mar 17 Paperless Billing at present complete with a Ј50 exit fee). He calculated a saving of Ј105.54.

He put me under pressure on the call and when I asked if it could wait he responded that this deal wouldn't be around for very long and I'd get a cooling off period of 14 days after the paper letters arrived so I decided to go through with it.

Anyway I've now looked at the 'Energy Saving Club' and based on my estimates for usage last year (4796 kWh / year gas & 1879 kWh / electricity) 'ScottishPower Online Fixed Price Energy March 2016 | Fixed till 31 Mar 2016' is indeed second place (with a Ј102 quoted saving) behind Sainsburys Energy.

I know for a fact this is the perfect deal for you was the callers closing comments.

Now over the weekend I'll try to get a gas reading which will help those predictions but looking at it I should be able to get Ј30 cash back according to cheaperenergyclub.

Do I change to the Sainsburys tariff to spite the cold calling and because the cashback & savings offset the Ј60 early exit fee that ScottishPower doesn't have?

Do I go with ScottishPower?

Or do I stick with my fix until 2017?

Thanks

Chris
