A question about : cohabiting and csa

Not sure if anyone can advise me. My partner makes payments for his two children via the CSA which go to his ex-wife. This is 20% of his income. We do not currently live together but are planning to do so in the future. Will my income and assets need to be taken into account when this happens? His earnings will not change but his disposable income will increase as we will only have the one household instead of two. I am just trying to get some information together about how this may affect me. Many thanks.

Best answers:

  • As you say 20% i assume he has 2 children and paying under the new system, if this is correct then this will carry on and your wage will not be taken into account
  • Great site for CSA problems: https://nacsa.co.uk
There is a subscriber area with forums, but they will help you by email, although they will take longer to reply than to their subscribers, they do know the system very well.
With regards to your partner, it does sound as if he is on the new system, which does not take partners into account. If you should have a child of your own, ie your child/his step child living with you, the CSA take that into account.
edit: or there is a free google forum here https://groups.google.com/group/uk.go...n&lr=&ie=UTF-8 which will be able to answer you more fully.
