Co-Op bank

A question about : Co-Op bank

On Monday 17/10, co-op start a limited offer - switch your banking to them using their switching service, pay in minimum of Ј800 per month then after the 3rd month they will credit your account with Ј200!
You must switch at least 2 direct debits, and this offer doesnt include the cashminder account.

• Hi, not sure about the standing orders, overdraft facilities are as per current account range and you can apply in branch from Monday - not sure about online applications.
• Would this also work in a Brittania branch? The nearest co op bank is 11 miles away but all co op bank business can also be done in a Brittania branch.

  Is the Co-op switching service any good? Do I get to select which DDs I switch?
• Will have to look at the T&Cs of this to see if I can get this cash somehow. Have a Halifax account with no d/ds on ready to be 'switched'.
• If your into gambling that can be arranged very quickly and easily. Sites like NationalLottery and HealthLottery both allow you to play via DD. Once the DD is setup you can switch it to take advantage of the deal, and then when you've got your Ј200, cancel the DDs
  (I doubt it would work for Monday, but it should work for later on in the week)
  Also, should only cost you a couple of quid! (Check the T&Cs of the lottery websites first) Bonus if you already play the lottery.

  If you try and switch an account that has no active direct debits on, it would be flagged and the bonus would not be paid
• I'm not 100% sure how this "account switching" works. Do you have to close the account that was "switched" or just swap over the DDs using the automated service?
• offer is available at brittannia bs, the branch manager of my local branch left a leaflet in my place of work on thursday. i plan on swapping OH to them on tuesday, he hates his bank and Ј200 to pay off his CC. Bonus

  my post was a specific answer to a question asked by happymj in post no.6. in answer to your own question you do not need to close your original account, but you will need to arrange payment of at least Ј800 (wages etc) into the new account as well as set up the 2 dd. after 3 months you claim the Ј200. the account also comes with a Ј200 automatic fee-free overdraft. on the back of the leaflet it says in a Q&A form "can i access my co-operative savings in a britannia branch? - not at this current time but we are planning to enable you to do this in the future". so not quite the same bank yet.
• Sorry, I was going from the website where is says "Britannia is part of the co-op bank" and "The Co-operative Bank p.l.c. trading as Britannia".
