A question about : Clarification of Universal Credit & ESA
I am in an area where UC has just started & I am matching the criteria for it. There is a chance I may have to claim UC for sickness, but know that under the old system I would have only got contribution based ESA. However, I have read that contr based ESA is not included in UC.
Therefore, would I have to claim ESA or UC or both or, is my claim switched over after the WCA?
Just would like some clarification please.
Thanks.
Best answers:
- Nobody who is currently unfit will meet the gateway conditions to go onto UC.
Get a doctors note.
Apply for ESA.
UC will not be relevant until more legislative changes happen.
