A question about : ChemDry

Hi all,

Sorry to moan but ChemDry are really dragging there feet and just wondered if anyone else is having problems with them?

They have now been round 3 times and all they have done is put damaged contents into a skip. Even then I had to chase them over and over. I am still waiting for them to come and clean, and dry out the damaged areas - until then the painters can't come. I have tried calling them for the last two days and the number i was given that used to work is now constantly engaged and on another number that I got off the ChemDry website I have been on hold for 25mins and counting grrrrr!!

Thanks

  • Are they a franchise operation ?
I had a flood a couple of years back (water pipe leak) and found my local ChemDry people to be excellent.
Don't forget, that at the moment you are not their only customer, there are only so many fans and dehumidifiers in the UK !
  • I think it depends which person you get from Chemdry. The guy that has been dealing with us is brilliant, he could not have been more helpful his name is George Pender from Scarborough & Ryedale, a real credit to his company.
  • Chemdry are a Franchise opration (Owned by Homeserve)
As such with any francise you will get some operators who go above and beyond and some that are real pants.
If totally dissatisfied log a complaint with the Chemdry main office, If enough people are unhappy maybe the Area Manager will take a look
  • I run a carpet cleaning and restoration business part time. If you have any questions Re: Chemdry then please email me off list.
  • As the others have said - yes Chemdry are a franchise, and yes, some of their operators are better than others. If you have problems, their HO should be fine and able to help. If not then try Homeserve HO - these guys are very helpful (I used to work in property restoration with our client being one of the large insurance underwriters and had experience of Homeserve)
If you are using them as part of your insurance claim - then contact your insurance company and they will sort out chemdry for you. Any probs if it's insurance - then send a letter as this then triggers a complaints procedure as set out by the ombudsman and should get things moving for you
  • Rip off's !!
  • Ive had Chem dry twice now after floods,
1st time it was a local franchise, and they were fine.
2nd time not so good, had to be chased, and I felt they were stalling for time with the drying.
My tip would be to logg all your contact with them and find someone who can press the buttons for you, Manager, / MD
  • I am having a nightmare with Chem Dry
My bathroom flooded and the local office (a franchise) were appointed to dry it out. They bought big fans and de-humidifiers but 2 days later the de-humidifier leaked and flooded my carpeted landing. I phoned the local office (it was a Saturday when it leaked) and they sent out a technician. The carpet was sodden, the underlay you could wring out and the wooden floorboards were drenched and it was a big area of carpet that was wet.
When the guy came he wanted to bring in more drying equipment to dry my carpet, I said this was not acceptable as it was so wet and I spoke to his boss on the phone. His boss then changed his mind and agreed to "uplift and replace" my carpet for me as it was their equipment that had leaked.
Now everything is dry I have phoned chem dry about my carpet and they have completly back tracked on what they said. They are saying that they have dried my wet carpet and want to bring it back to me and they never agreed to replace it!
I am sooo mad, its mine and my husbands word against 2 of their guys and Im having a right battle with them.
Can anyone help or has anyone had any similar problems?
  • Could it be a misunderstanding of their use of "replace" - they meant "refit", you thought they meant "put down new".
Was the original problem being sorted out by your insurance company? If so, I'd get on to them about the problem with Chemdry.
  • Chem Dry have said that the insurance company are aware. Do you think I should phone the loss adjuster and insurance company too? At least they will be aware of the problems I'm having I suppose?
I don't know if it was a misunderstanding with the Chem Dry mans choice of wording. We did talk about who would be paying for the replacement though ie my insurance company or Chem Dry.
