A question about : Charge Notice from Ace Security Services

Hi All,

I have read the Newbies Private Parking Ticket sticky and all 6 of the posts on Ace Security Services but the advice is not 100% clear/consistent to me.

My situation:
- I parked outside a friend's flat while visiting them.
- There was a sign but I didn't notice that you needed to get a permit and my friend also forgot to mention it, so I didn't have one. (After the fact, there is also no instructions on where you get a permit from)
- I got a Charge Notice for Ј130 (or Ј65 if you pay in 14 days) on my windscreen from Ace Security Services (trading name of Pace Recovery and Storage Ltd)
- On the back of the notice, there are instructions on how to appeal. In particular, if you appeal within 14 days, the charge stays at Ј65.

From my research and the various posts, I know that Ace is not a member of the BPA or IPC. Therefore, it cannot get my details legally from the DVLA.

Most of the previous posts on Ace are from 2013 and the general consensus is to ignore the Notice left on my windscreen. However, I noticed that a number of the regular forum contributors have a footer that says NEWBIES - wise up - DO NOT IGNORE A PARKING CHARGE NOTICE - you have been warned! or Ticket in a private car park in England/Wales?... DON'T PAY IT BUT DO NOT IGNORE IT...........Do NOT read older advice to ignore

Therefore, my question is: Should I just ignore the Charge Notice that was left on my windscreen and wait for a NTK (if any) to come? (Hopefully, unlikely if they can't get my address) If not, what should I do?

Also, if a NTK does come, I will have missed the early payment discount, so will owe Ј130 vs Ј65 (I am assuming that all disputes will fail as there is no independent appeals process for a non trade member PPC)?

BTW - I have another parking permit displayed - will they use this to try and track me down. The notice says they took a photo!

Thanks in advance for your help. Much appreciated!

  • This shower crop up rarely. They are not members of an ATA so should not be able to obtain any details from the DVLA. So far I have not heard that they have managed to.
Ignore them. If they write to the RK come back and tell us but I suspect it will go no further.
  • they are a shower of chancing !!!!!!s , no better than me leaving a ticket on your car saying "pay me" and a bank number .
    the Ј130 figure is illegal
there will be no NTO , as they can,t get one ,
can you give us there full name and trading address , also full details of how to pay them , as this can be followed up and stopped
debit card machine suppliers do not like there machines being used for fraud.
  • As above, wait for the NTK (which may never arrive) before you do anything else. This is one of the rare occasions where it is OK to ignore a PCN. Well done on reading up first. It really helps the regulars here when someone does their homework before asking questions.

    ready for a joke
"there will always be those who ignore the Charge Notices, or believe that they are insubstantial. These people may offend once, but the inconvenience of receiving a Charge Notice, or having their vehicle repositioned, is usually enough of a deterrent that they do not do so again.
Ace Security Services is not a member of the BPA. However, this does not prevent us from issuing Charge Notices that are legally enforceable. Should you require more information regarding this, or the legality of parking control schemes, please feel free to contact us.
move your car? illegal , issue a charge notice , how can they , they are not an ATA member
please get back to us , if those muppets do get your details via another company
as they are clearly breaking the law ,
