A question about : Change of Circumstances
Hi,
I'm currently in receipt of HB/CTR, DLA - MRC and IR ESA. I live in a one-bedroom council property and my 20-year-old brother is considering moving out of the family home.
1. I am wondering if he is allowed to stay with me? Does he effectively become a joint tenant?
2. I assume my entitlement to Housing Benefit would stay the same since I'm in receipt of the Care Component. Or, will there be a change to the amount received since he could potentially be getting a job in the near future? I'm unsure what his hours will be unfortunately.
Kindly advise.
Best answers:
- housing and council tax help would be unaffected, but there could be an issue with ESA.
as you receive MRC DLA and IR ESA and live alone, you will be receiving the severe disability premium as part of your ESA payment.
if your brother moves in you would no longer qualify for this premium.
so a loss of Ј61 a week
