A question about : Central locking issue

I hope some one is able to help, this is my first post to this forum.

I have a VW Golf 2002. It has retro fitted remote central locking which was not working when I bought the car 18 months or so ago. This isn't an issue for me, I've never had a car with remote central locking.

However the general central locking is now not working properly. It works fine from the passanger side but not from the driver side. If I leave the key in the lock for a few seconds before turning it it will then work, sometimes, but not every time. So I'm having to unlock my car from the passanger side. This happens at all times of the day and I doubt the lock is frozen.

Has any experienced this before or knows how to fix it?

Thanks

  • My best suggestion would be to join one of the VW Forums as they will have many more car enthusiasts than a money saving forum. Whenever I change cars I always join one of forums relating to that car manufacturer.
  • Microswitch on the door lock has gone faulty I would imagine. If you're handy with the spanners and a soldering iron you could replace the switch on its own, but the standard garage fix will be:
Then you leave having decided to go without central locking.
A second hand door lock might be the answer.
