A question about : Cash for Clothes

Sorry if this has been asked before!

My OH has a load of clothes he wants to get rid of. Can anyone recommend a good website that recycles clothes for cash?

Thank you title=Stick

Best answers:

  • I forgot to say I have loads of worn Tshirts too.
  • I had a leaflet through the door recently which promised money for old clothing, but the price shown per 10 kg seemed pretty low .. clothing doesn't weight very much so you would need a lot to make up to their 10kg minimum
If you have a digital camera, far better try ebay
Alternatively, try advertising on Gumtree or Preloved, both of which are free to advertise. On these sites though, you give a fixed price, rather than the auction type approach. One good point, you advertise locally, so the buyer will collect from you .. no postage / parcel wrapping to worry about.
    Good luck
  • Thank you!
  • clothes 4 cash are dodgy. I never got paid. Please dont send any clothes in the post you may not get paid or get your clothes back.
  • There is a company in our city that buys clothes. If you drop it off to them, it's 50p per kg. I take my clothes that don't sell on eBay there.
Remember that to list stuff seasonally for the best prices. So list your jumpers and that now
  • Best looking around your town or city for one that buys I recently sold a lot (75KG) only got 30p a kg but they took everything (incl belts bags and shoes good or bad) and the cost of driving to a slightly higher paying one would have brought the return to about the same.
The money can then be pocketed or donated to your own favourite charity that does not have shops.
If anyone wants a recomendation of a charity (non shops and local) in Birmingham let me know by PM, making sure you specify any area that is important to you, and I will do my best.
I can even recommend a charity that helps the homeless that takes any fabric in any quantity. (They take all our old work gloves and uniforms).
  • anything interesting, i would put om gumtree, or friday-ad etc..
deal in CASH, buyer collects - no fees!
  • Thanks Everyone I think the good ones will go on Ebay and the rest a charity shop!
  • Has anyone used clothesbank.co.uk at all? Would like to hear of some reviews before comitting to handing over some unwanted clothes.
  • in our town a van comes and gets the clothes and weighs them and pays you there and then maybe look to see if you have someone like that in your area
  • make a video and use ebay will make it easier for you, or just sell to an importer will give you good money
  • I have an old pair of pants if anyone wants them? Bidding starts here.
  • I walked into Prescot the other day and saw a new sign up outside a shop which said 'old clothes 60p a kilo'.
I thought it sounded like a good deal and went in to buy some but he wasn't selling. My mistake.
  • They stopped trading for some time and now they are back their service is terrible Having booked online and had it confirmed via email and at 10 am on the day we waited and waited. At 6.00pm no show and a call to them said we werent on the list as being booked. They did say book again but prices have dropped to 50p a kg.
  • We used CASH FOR CLOTHES worcester in October and are still waiting on payment! the number you have for accounts is never answered and if you email or leave message this is not repsonded to! the woman at the end of the phone for collection is less than helpful, Avoid this company!!!!
  • We went to cashforclothes last month. The website said they closed at 5, we went at 3.40. The woman was really snotty with us and said they closed at 4 and she didn't have time to process them. She suggested we leave them and our name and to call back the next morning for our money. They were only offering 40pence per kilo anyway. There seemed to be a shiftiness about her so we put the clothes back in the car and brought them home. We slowly put them up on eb@y and we made 10 times the money we would have got from c4c.
  • My daughter collected 123kg of clothes as she is fundraising for an orphanage in Ghana. Cash 4 Clothes collected them in September and despite promising payment of 40p a kilo in 5 to 10 days we received nothing. After many phone calls and emails and reporting them to Trading Standards we received a payment of just over Ј7 in January when we should have received Ј49. Please don't use them as they are ripping people off and please help spread the word so other people don't have the same experience.
  • always use a local office, don't send stuff off. Lots of outlets now have portakabins in supermarket car parks I've noticed, paying 50p per kilo.
