A question about : Carrentals.com

I've just booked 2 weeks in an economy size car for around 200 quid via this site. The car hire is with Budget at Majorca (Palma) at the beginning of July.

The site is aimed at the US market but was showing me the price in EUR. Anyone have any idea if this booking would be honoured? I was careful to check for any terms stating the hirer should be US resident. They were offering an insurance upgrade but clearly stated that part was for US residents only (I'll need to take a separate policy).

It's a pay at counter deal, with free cancellation, full to full fuel. Seems a bit TGTBT but I received a confirmation email. I got similar priced car hire from Enterprise last year but right now the UK Budget site is asking Ј600+.

Best answers:

  • I assume you have been supplied a voucher which you must show at time of collection. This should detail the supplier of the vehicle - who is this?
While the deal may be legit most car hire aggregators do not include 'additional optional fees' which vary depending on the supplier. Some of these (and especially for those in Spain and the Spanish islands) can be problematic.
  • It's with Budget - I've contacted them directly to see what they say.
  • I cancelled the booking above and have just rebooked with Avis via Holiday Autos at Ј230 for 15 days, Seat Ibiza or similar. Worth a look if your hunting a deal. Avis have the same deal at Ј500.
