A question about : Cancelling contract with Anglian windows

My partner decided to go with Anglian windows for double glazing without consulting me after they had harassed us following the sales call. Upon reflection I decided not to go ahead with the windows. I cancelled 12 days after the contract has been signed and their surveyor had not been round yet. They are now billing us for 25% of the windows and that we are in breach of contract. Do I have any consumer rights? Please help..

  • Hi
After a quick check online I for this {see below} so unless things have changed I do not think you have any chance

  • Where was the order placed? In your home or at their showroom?
If it was in your home, over the phone or online then I believe you have 14 days to cancel. (assuming they notified you of your cancellation rights. If they didn't then the 14 day countdown starts AFTER they have notified you).
The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013
  • Is it still the case that the 14 day cancellation can be waived by the consumer provided that they sign to agree that the service can be started within this 14 day period?
If this is the case, I believe that you can still cancel but can be charged for work carried out but if the surveyor hasn't measured up yet, the actual manufacture can't have started so I can't see how they can legally charge for this.
