A question about : Can anyone help Spanish National Strike 29th Sep

am just back from spain yesterday morning, when i was on holiday i recived a email about Spanish National Strike 29th Sep from ryanair saying

Online Check-in now available

Ryanair reminds all passengers that due to strike action by some transport unions in Spain on Wednesday 29th September 2010 all flights to/from Spain on the 29th September will operate with cabin baggage only.

ALL PASSENGERS INTENDING TO TRAVEL ON RYAANIR FLIGHTS TO/ FROM SPAIN (INC. BALEARIC & CANARY ISLANDS) ON WEDNESDAY THE 29TH SEPTEMBER ARE NOW REQUIRED TO RE-CHECK-IN ONLINE UP TO 23:00HRS (GMT) ON THE 28TH SEPTEMBER AND REPRINT NEW BOARDING PASSES. THIS WILL FACILITATE PASSENGERS AND REDUCE POTENTIAL QUEUES AT THE AIRPORTS.

Ryanair plans to operate all flights on that day, but as the action may impact our third party baggage handling services, we will be unable to accept checked baggage on all flights to/from Spain (including Balearic & Canary Islands)on Wednesday 29th September 2010.

Passengers who have paid for checked baggage who are now travelling on the 29th September with cabin baggage ONLY can apply for a refund of the bag fee paid by clicking on the link below.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by this general strike in Spain which is outside of Ryanair’s control.

my problem is we had to leave our 20 kilo suit case with myself and husbands clothes with other electrical items travel iron, hairdryer, ect, as ryanair said it was only hand luggage we was allowed on plane, when we went to go on the plane there was ppl there with there checked baggage and they got them on ok good luck to the ppl but when a got off the plane at preswick airport and went to customer services a was told the only thing a get back was A REFUND OF THE CHECKED BAG FEE, i phoned my insurance and they said its down to ryanair to pay can anyone please help.

Best answers:

  • When was the next available flight?
  • when i booked the holiday it was from 20th september till 29th september when i seen the email from ryanair about the strike i phoned them on the 28th to ask what was happening they said they could give me another flight for the 3rd of october which was no good to me as me and my husband work, they said they be flights on the 29th of september but we was only allowed cabbin bags i said what about my case they told me a would not get it on the flight so i had to go online rebook for the same flight i was to get and throw my case with my clothes and other stuff away, plus for us both to stay on not only would we have lost a wage but i would have had to pay Ј124 for an apartment for us both for 3 days more transfares, plus 3 days extra for prestwick carpark.
  • i dont know if its true but a family member told me that ryanair and most travel places knew about this strike from june so why did they not inform me to change my return home time to 28th a have still to look into this am only going on hear say
