A question about : Calling Abroad, From Abroad...

Hi,
So i was wondering if anyone knows of how i'd get around this and know of any good/cheap ways...Basically i'm off to Lanzarote but while i'm there i need to call out to Australia and also back to the UK. There's so many sims and pre paid this and that, i've just got myself in a complete muddle. I'll have access to my UK mobile or local Lanzarote payphones.
Any ideas?

• what network are you currently with ??
  o2 allows you to call using TU for example via wifi
  IF BT landline then BT smart talk allows you to call like you would at home , ie choose a call overider
• Is your mobile phone a smartphone or a more basic one? Which network is it with? Will you have a decent wifi connection available? There are loads of potential options available, but will depend on the answers to these questions.
  If all else fails, there will probably be a locutorio available somewhere for cheap overseas calls.
• Somebody told me (but I couldn't verify it) that if you both have a Lycamobile sim card (available basically everywhere in the world), you can call each other at very low rates, sometimes 1c of a Euro per minute. Lycamobile is sometimes called something different in each country. Don't take it at face value.
