A question about : Butlins Skegness

I've just booked a sun holiday at Skegness butlins. We've had to go half board which has upped the price a bit, so I'm wondering if it's worth trying to save money on things like the entertainment passes.

Can anyone tell me what's included in the entertainment pass (especially for 4 year old) and if it's worth it? Also, what's available to us on site without a pass?

Thanks!

  • The one great thing about Butlins is the entertainment which is constant and ubiquitous. Butlins / Skeggy are rather dull if there is nothing much to do.
  • Yeah I thought as much!
Having not been to butlins for many years, I know there's the swimming pool, but what else is there suitable for under 5s?
  • I suppose really with an under 5 there's just
    Soft play area,
Small kids rides ( think ladybirds, cars, tea cups , planes, trampolines)
Shows on the skyline stage ( the skyline gang hang out there who are 7 characters and a dog) who sing and dance
    The puppet castle shows,
Billy bear, Barney, fireman sam, Angelina ballerina shows on stage
Arts and crafts, painting, making etc
    Climbing play area
    Going on to the beach
Depending on when you are going there will be other things on stage at night
All of that is free and will keep you busy and your little 1 entertained for a few weeks.
If needed you could take the entertainment passes off as I have never had mine checked
  • We went on a Sun Holiday to Butlins Skeggy last year with 2 under 5's they had an absolute blast, best Holiday I think we have had as a Family of 4.
The swimming pool is fantastic, think mine would have spent a week in there alone! There is a shallow wading pool so even my 2 year old was safe to play with supervision. The shows are all brilliant and on at various times during the day not just in the evenings then they do a meet and greet the Characters after most shows too.
We went Half Board too and it was very good value, we made sure we filled the kids juice bottles up each time just before we left then they could drink that rather than buying one. Also never had passes checked to be honest.
Sure you will have a brilliant time :-)
  • Hi we are going to butlins skegness on the sun holidays this july 2015 and we are thinking of not buying the entertainment passes as they are a bit pricey for a family of five , has anybody been in same situation please advise
  • One thing to be aware of with the Skegness Butlins is that its not actually in Skegness, its about two and a half/three miles up the coast.
May not be an issue but thought it worth mentioning as we were surprised having visited the other ones.
It is walkable but maybe not with little ones.
  • The softplay area at Butlins Skegness is the best I've seen on a holiday park for little children - so long as it hasn't rained. They have a bit of a damp/flooding issue
Not sure how Butlins react if you ask to take the entertainment passes off, would be interested to hear anybody's experience of phoning to ask them this.
  • Skegness the town is rather tired and boring.
