• I was reading another thread on this topic, and like many others, a lot of the headings are not relevany to me, and a few are missing!
  Anyway, as suggested, i copied the sections i needed on to Excel, but the formulas have vanished!?!?
  Anyone know what formulas were used?

  I'd like to know a little more about 'piggybanking' as mentioned in the budgeting article. I've performed several searches but can't seem to find what I'm looking for.
  How do I go about setting up several bank accounts accounts?
  Do I do this with my current bank (Barclays) or do I go to other banks?
  I feel confident that this approach would work for me.
  If this has already been covered, then please forgive me - but I would be grateful if you could point me in the right direction.

  I think I found the answer.
  I discovered today that I can add e-savings accounts through online banking. I now need to discover whether I can pay people from these accounts. They have account numbers and sort codes, so I can't see why not.
  Then I need to see if I can work out how to give them a meaningful name, like 'Mortgage' or 'Electricity'.
  I also need to read up on exactly how many of these e-saving accounts I can have. So far, It looks like I could easily use around TWENTY! Realistically I think I may have to lump a few categories into the same account.

• I have just downloaded the budget planner,however when I try to open the budget planner in Microsoft Works 8 it tells me that the file is password protected and needs to be opened first in Excel and then saved in Excel, since I don't have Excel I can't open the file :confused: any suggestions please.

• In theory it all seems well but how can I budget when as a freelancer I don't know how much I will earn from one month to the next? eg November Ј4000, Aug Ј120, Jan Ј??

  Inspired by my first viewing of "Make Me Rich" I downloaded the spreadsheet today and gave it a spin. It looks good, but I have a suggestion for any future version.
  The formula in the monthy total column could be changed to (for row 6):
  = D6*4.33 + E6 + F6/12
  where D6 = per week amount
  E6 = per month amount
  F6 = per year amount
  This would allow one to populate the per week, per month and per year columns either separately (as now) or in combination (which you can't do despite what it says in the comment box).
  If you want a blank "" displayed when no entries are made in either column you can use the above formular with a combination of the IF and OR formulae:
  =IF (OR(D60,E60,F60),D6*4.33 + E6 + F6/12,"")
  These changes will also allow weekly, monthly or yearly ammounts to be smaller than Ј1 (which at present are not allowed.)

• Question: On the income spreadsheet it refers to a "calorie Counter" for self-employed tax and NI, but I cannot find any further detail about this. What is it and where can it be found?
  Suggestion: Why not just post the spreadsheet password, then those who are familiar with Excel can use Unprotect to adapt the spreadsheet to their own requirements.
