A question about : Budget Natural Skincare

I've been using Naked Bodycare for ages because it's mostly natural without additive nasties, and very well priced. However this week it's totally disappeared - the Facebook page, Twitter account, website - all just gone. Does anyone know what's happened?

Anyone recommend a cost effective range of hair and beauty products which are similar (i.e. mostly natural without additives).

  • Hi there,
I was also very unhappy to find that Naked Bodycare's website and Facebook page both disappeared last week! I use their shampoo and conditioner almost exclusively and the fact it was a company with good ethics and using natural ingredients was really important to me.
I emailed Boots to ask if they know what has happened. I got a reply back yesterday to say that they can confirm that the range has been discontinued due to poor sales Very sad as I found Naked haircare products amazing for my hair.
  • I'm really sad to hear that! I loved their leave-in conditioner as it was one of the few I've found that doesn't have silicones in. I also liked the fact that they seemed to be a decent company too.
  • There do seem to be a few items on the bay of e, suspect they will soon go now though
I had this range on my list of things to try when stash reduced
  • Nooooo! The coco de mer body wash is the only one I use
  • I am gutted - it's the only haircare range i use & believe me, I've tried everything else.
  • V poor this. KMI say they've sold it to Boots and Boots say it's discontinued. Great way of squandering goodwill.
  • Hello all,
I have never written a review or on a forum, before but I was such an avid fan of the naked bodycare range, and so disappointed when I could no longer find the products any where, that I felt I must write and advise of a suitable alternative I have found which turns out to be more cost effective. I have discovered the 'Naturally European' brand which sells a 500ml bottle of shower gel for Ј6.95 compared with the naked body wash at Ј3.98 (depending on where you bought it from). Unfortunately they only do a 50ml size shampoo or conditioner in their travel kits. Sold in John Lewis, and online on various sites but don't seem to have their own website.
Alternatively there is the 'Organic Surge' range which is very good but does work out to be more expensive than naked bodycare was. On the plus side they sell a full range of hair and body care as well as face products too. Cheapest bought at John Lewis or online although their own website is dearer than others.
Interestingly Boots stopped doing the organic surge range a while back too. What do they seem to have against reasonably priced natural or organic products!?!
    Hope this helps!!
  • When the their website stopped working I made the long trip to town and picked up a few months supply of my favourite shampoo and condition, however I could not find the children's toffee apple or jam sandwiches shampoo
I hope the do not disappear forever, my hair actually loved the SLS and silicone free products, luckily the body shop do a similar priced one (although its not as good) when my stash is gone I will need to make another trip to town.
  • Hello again,
I've been a bit obsessive and found some products that those of you who had been using the Naked hair care range might appreciate as I've also decided to give sls free hair care a go.
Firstly you might want to check out the SLs free list of shampoos and conditioners on life and soul lifestyle website (sorry but this forum wouldn't let me post with the link).
I have also found some super value SOS free products from CostCo including 1 litre bottles of shampoo for Ј9.99, conditioner for Ј10.99, and 1.6 litres of body was for Ј12.99!!! These products do however contain silicones just so you are aware.
    Best wishes
  • One of the best value natural skincare ranges that I've found is Pure Nuff Stuff https://www.purenuffstuff.co.uk/
I no longer suffer from itchy skin and scalp since I swapped to their stuff.
  • You can get the organic surge brand in the Coop supermarkets if that helps
  • Gosh - thanks for all the responses - it's good to know others feel the same as me. I used both their hair and body products and have done for ages. I am totally in love with their body butter so am really gutted abhout this.
It's not surprising that Boots cite poor sales, because they only ever stocked a small percentage of the line, and hid it away. I could only ever find it in my city centre store, not in any of the satellite ones. Also I generally tried to purchase direct from the Naked Bodycare website as the products were cheaper than in Boots.
I'll review the suggestions you have all made and fingers crossed find something else I like. One powerful factor for me was the smell of their products - I just loved them. I would happily have paid double the cost for their products because they were so good.
Something must have gone very wrong with their marketing or they were just manhandled poorly by the bigger companies that it is now clear owned them. Feel really sorry for the staff as well as they must have lost their jobs.
  • I had to contact KMI Brands too after only half of my recent order was delivered and the website/FB page disappeared! So sad to see it go!
Waitrose do a Pure range that's around 97% natural (depending on the product). Their shampoo and conditioner are Ј2.99 each which is amazing https://www.waitrose.com/shop/Display...oductId=346810. It doesn't lather as well as the Naked range but my hair loves it for being SLS/paraben/chemical free. They also have face washes and various other skincare items (face wipes, moisturiser, etc). I'm waiting for them to bring out a soap or body wash in the same range.
  • I was in the Princes Street Boots store in Edinburgh this morning and there were still a few hair products from the Naked range - I stocked up on the conditioner! Might be worth a look in other big stores if people want to catch them before they disappear!
  • Thanks everyone for these suggestions. I am devestated at the discontinuation of the Naked face cream, nothing seems to be quite as good. I still buy the coco de mer Naked body cream from my Boots in High Wycombe but use Faith in Nature shampoos now and I love Balance Me face wash. If anyone finds a similar face moisturiser to the Naked one please do let me know.
  • The Boots website has the Naked range available - my daughter has very itchy scalp and I buy this for her. It hasn't helped the itching, but I prefer the sulphate and paraben free for her.
  • Can any of you who use these natural shampoos and conditioners help me out please? I've had problems with eczema/allergies flaring up lately and so I've been trying to use only fragrance/paraben free products (I worked out it seems that those ingredients are what irritate my skin). I've found skin stuff which suits, but the problem is every shampoo of this type I've tried, my hair hates it! They all seemed too harsh/stripping on my hair and it becomes greasy when I use them.
Can anyone recommend a fragrance/paraben free shampoo that's a bit gentler? It's getting expensive to keep trying one then finding it's no good. Previously I used VO5 shampoo, hair loves it, skin was ok with it but I'm not sure whether it still is, want to use something else to check it isn't aggravating my skin.
Of what I remember off the top of my head, I've tried Simple shampoo, Simple moisturising baby shampoo, Waitrose Pure shampoo+conditioner and using a Sanex bodywash on my hair as well because you supposedly can. All were too harshly cleaning on the hair, making it super-squeaky when I was washing and then my hair gets greasy trying to compensate.
  • Hello all,
I never usually post on forums and I created this account especially to write this and let you all know about a possible alternative company to buy from.
They're called 'Beauty Naturals' (wouldn't let me post link)
    w.beautynaturals.com
They seem to have high ethical standards, and from personal experience I can say they've always provided me with exceptional customer service (including free delivery).
Please have a quick look, I really do believe they deserve the support and I would hate to see them go out of business too.
    Bye!
