A question about : BT sport on sky

Hi. Currently we have Sky TV with sports and movies. We want to stay with sky as my husband finds it easy to use. We wondered if it is possible to have bt sport on sky without having the sky sports package. I know that we would need to order it from BT. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

Best answers:

  • BT Sport is separate from Sky Sports so no need to have a Sky sports package.
  • As already stated you can have BT Sport on Sky with or without any other Sky TV as long as the viewing card is valid, didn't realise it wasЈ13.50 a month, but it is free if you have BT Broadband, or switch to BT broadband
  • It's also possible to get BT Sport on the Sky satellite platform (i.e. Sky box) for Ј5.99 a month if you're a Plusnet broadband subscriber - see:
    www.plus.net/tv/btsport/
It's worth noting that, if you get BT Sport for 'free' with a BT Broadband subscription or otherwise with the Plusnet deal above, you don't need to subscribe to Sky whatsoever in order to receive it (i.e. you don't need to take the basic Sky package, as you have to do with Sky Sports).
  • Well that was all very confusing to be honest.
Like me, the op has Sky with Sky Sport, I think all they wanted to know was can you cancel Sky Sport and subscribe to BT sport, or at least, that is how I read it.
if that's the case, then no, you cant.
  • Can one cancel Sky Sports and subscribe to BT sport? Yes you can.
Can one cancel Sky completely and still subscribe to BT sport? Yes you can do that as well.
All one needs to do any of the above is an active viewing card.
  • My NowTV box enables me to have Sky Sports as a pay as you view, ideal as it only charges for the time you watch. Leaving my BT Broadband/TV to view BT Sport.
  • If you leave sky is the viewing card still classed as active ?
Thinking of cancelling sky, using the dish for freebie channels and continue to get BT Sport
  • Theres some very helpful information on this thread, nice one. To sum it up -
Sky sells Sky Sports, BT sells BT Sport. The two are unrelated and one does not require the other to allow viewing/sign-up.
