A question about : BT

Good morning everyone,

I am trying to set up an additional email account, with BT. The instructions are simple (ish), log on to My BT, go to the manage my email part and under the list of my email addresses there will be a box entitled 'create new email', click on it and job done. The problem is that there is no 'create new email' box. It simply is not there. The 'help' button just sends me around in circles and when I called BT, I was advised to either sign up for Premium Mail at Ј1.90 per month or spend Ј8 to speak to a technical expert!

Has anyone else experienced the same problem and is there an easy solution?
I have spent one hour trying to do something that should have taken minutes.

  • use this link

You need to use your primary BT ID to login (the one you use to look at bills)
If you use a BT ID that is not the primary one it will not allow you to add an email account.
  • If you want an additional email addy, why not just use GMail and avoid being tied to one ISP?
  • Log in to your primary email account. (This might not be the same log in as your BT Account ID - I use different passwords for mine)
In the top right corner of the screen click on the little purple cog/wheel icon.
From the drop down box choose "Account Info" (bottom option on list) & it should take you to a new screen with all the options available including Managing Sub Accounts.
I find it very useful to have several of these sub accounts - for shopping, joining websites etc where if they get compromised with spam or junk you can ditch them when they stop being useful & start again. All messages get directed to a combined box on my mobile.
  • Thank you everyone. I just wanted to post an update, in case anyone else has the same problem.
I followed the advice given on this thread, but it still didn't work. I then noticed that there was a notification asking me to confirm my primary email account. I thought I had already done this, but apparently not. I clicked on the button, followed the instructions to confirm the primary email as requested, logged out, logged back in, and success - everything appeared as it should including the elusive create a new email option.
