A question about : Broken HDD for Acer desktop. Is there a way to re-install Windows 7?

The HDD of my old acer stop working.

I changed a new one.

Anyone know where I could get a copy of Acer OEM Windows 7?

I have the licence key, but don't know where I can find acer oem Windows 7 to re-install.

Best answers:

  • Official download https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery
  • Legally only Acer can provide a recovery CD and that's probably a chargeable service. Did you check the boxes (if you have them) for any media? Its possible you had a recovery partition and should have created your own disks but that's academic now.
You should be able to use any ISO from any OEM to do the install, so you may want to try asking friends. The Windows 7 DVD has all versions on it, but depending on how the OEM has set it it may be locked to a set version so you my have to get the same version as you have (ie home premium if you have that, or Pro if you have that) you used to be able to get a copy form Digital River but I think they closed ages ago and download come from Microsoft after you have bought a product.
If you use a OEM form another maker you may need to do a little detective work on installed drivers but Acers site should be able to supply them all for your machine.
  • I did have recovery DVD. But unfortunatelyit didn't burn properly that there was missing files and it stop in the middle of installation.
I am running Ubuntu temporary at the moment, but I will try putting windows back.
