A question about : Bristol

We have a couple of nights booked in Bristol for February half term. Need suggestions of places to visit with two children aged 8 and 10 and discount vouchers would be great. Already got the zoo on the list

Best answers:

  • @Bristol. https://www.at-bristol.org.uk
It is fantastic, science brought to life. My children love it.
  • I second @Bristol, you can easily spend all day there as they put on demonstrations. the museum is free and quite good.
cosmos all you can eat buffet is really nice in clifton
  • Brunel's SS Great Britain
    Clifton Suspension Bridge
  • All within walking distance of each other
    Royal west of England Academy
    Wills Memorial Building
    Bristol Museum
    Red Lodge Museum
    Waterfront
    Hippodrome
    M Shed
  • It also depends on what you want to do. There are some lovely places for walks in Bristol. Blaise castle is a lovely park and woodland walk.
My kids are the same age as yours, and when I asked them my youngest said @Bristol. My eldest couldn't think as there is so much choice!!
Thr M Shed is fantastic and free, there is a good choice of lovely places to eat on the harbourside and in theory you could do MShed, @Bristol and lunch as a day. All within walking distance of town. Have a look at the Old Vic, it's meant to be a lovely theatre while we've never been, they do do lovely shows there.
I took the kids in the open top bus ride a couple of years ago. It was a good hop on/off and we learnt a lot about our home City!
Edited to add: Clifton is lovely and if you go to the Suspension bridge there is a lovely park to the right of it on the Bristol Zoo side. It also has a rock slide (old clothes essential) which is fab fun for the kids. If you walk through the park and up the hill you can look over the bridge and see the observatory. It's a lovely spot to run about and burn off some energy. Avon Gorge is lovely for a drink if it's warm enough to sit outside (if not don't bother, the loveliness of the view wouldn't be the same!)
  • the M shed by the docks id an industrial museum - it's a lot better than you'd think
  • Thanks - there are some great suggestions I will have a look !
  • @Bristol someone mentioned was free but the website says it is 39.50 for admission for all of us ?
