A question about : Bright Life UK Help

Has anyone ever purchased anything from this company, and did you have a satisfactory experience? Apologies if this is redundant but I did try the Search tool on this site but as usual nothing came up.

I'm thinking of using them but I can't seem to find any info on them...

If there is a website where I can check the reliability of mail order companies, if you could let me know I'd appreciate it.

Cheers. title=Have

  • My wife recently recieved an assortment of un-ordered items from Bright Lights together with a paid invoice. She phoned them and they insisted she must have ordered and paid for them on her credit card - she hadn't. They said someone would collect them.
Two weeks later a neighbour, with the same postcode, phoned to ask if we'd received a parcel from Bright Lights that she had ordered. She had phoned Bright Lights to locate her goods only to be told that my wife had used our neighbour's card to order the goods!
    Avoid them like the plague!
  • Thanks for this.I was about to buy stuff from BRIGHT LIFE now I wont take the chance.
  • I have been buying products from Bright-Life for about three years and never had a problem, I've only ever had one item that was poor quality and that was the Spell Checker which quite often returned a totally different word to the one I was checking, but apart from that all other items have been good value.
  • Their times and conditions bother me a little:

  • I wish that I had checked this out earlier in the week, I had a brochure come in the weekly TV guide that we buy every week (Why do reputible companies get involved with these people?) and my wife thought that she would buy a couple of the dog beds that were on offer at a 50% reduction.
However despite entering the correct code as described in the brochure the discount was not applied, (surprise) after several calls to customer services (irony there?) I ended up talking to someone (in India I think) who said that they could not cancel the order or apply the discount retrospectively as it was already in the warehouse?.
The only thing to do was to refuse delivery by the courier and the order would be returned and my card credited (we'll see).
I rang my card company to make them fully aware so watch this space as they say!
Needless to say that this is the first and last time that I go near these people
  • Like the previous post. I also ordered from Brightlife on 15.2.14 from a brochure inside a TV mag. Again in spite of usung the correct promo code I was charged the full amount. I have phoned and e-mailed customer services saying that I wanted to cancel the order. They have now said it is too late and the goods are on the way to me. I will now contact my credit card company. They are without a doubt the most unhelpful and possibly crooked company I have ever dealt with.
  • Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I expect a company called BrightLife UK to be based in the UK. Having spent a while perusing their website I am not much the wiser. And they seem to have a Columbia domain, not a UK one.

Lots of stuff in the T&C about Switzerland.
ASA don't think much of them:

JDM Marketing Ltd seem to be based in Aberdeen not Liverpool and have no company number on their own sparse website. If they are this company then they don't seem very substantial:

  • Wish I'd read this first. I have just placed an order and the email they promised hasn't arrived. Good job I bookmarked the page, I'm worried now.
Went back to the order page and it;s now saying no order was placed. Rang the bank and the payment has been authorised, so if I haven't placed an order why have they taken money. I told bank I thought it was a fraudulent company and they have put a block on my card. Also if the goods don;t arrive in 15 working days they will attempt to get refund on my behalf and if unsuccessful will refund me as it will then be fraud!
  • Yes I did receive my order, but I cancelled my debit card after reading this and am glad I did because they recently sent me an email saying "Thankyou for your order" I haven't placed a second order -thankfully they can't take the money. PHEW!
  • I ordered some shoes for my nan from these cowboys and they sent the wrong size. Only then did I find out you have to pay the return postage even though it's their fault. I have tried emailing them and phoning and either there's no reply to emails and their phoneline just keeps telling you they are too busy to answer and will call you back, which they never do.
How TF do companies like this get away with it!!
  • Guess you get what you pay for:cheap but rubbish. Very poor customer service.
Bought shoes - very poor fit.
Dry cook pan - no instructions on how to use.
Just received the 'cash prize/sweepstake' postal mail shot!
  • Ordered boots and a pillow thing. Neither looked like the picture, the boots looked badly made and you could see the front part was actually coming away. The pillow looked like a piece of badly stuffed cushion unlike the full square shaped pillow in the picture. Went mental at them but eventually they arranged for Hermes to pick up the parcel. That was 31st January and we are still waiting for the refund!
A complaint will be made to the people who send out the Motability magazine, if they must put little booklets/leaflets in with the magazine they should make sure it's a reputable company. How many disabled people think because it's in with their magazine it must be a superduper company when in fact they are a bunch of crooks!!
