A question about : big TV woes

Hi all

Long story short.

Brought a TV from a electronics company.
Company agreed to accept return of product so I sent product back with p4d.
I took out their insurance cover.
Selling company refused delivery and I received TV back.
TV packaging utterly destroyed and TV has suffered some minor damage.
In short company perhaps quite rightly won't accept TV back. P4d are saying that damage isn't covered for a 55 TV even though I purchased an additional Ј500 worth of insurance.

As I purchased the TV under my barclays card might I still be covered by insurance?

Best answers:

  • Does the courier admit liability for the damage?
  • Well, whilst parcel force have admitted liability for the damage they are saying they don't cover damage for TVs.

Thank you for your email and attached photo's. I will forward your email to the appropriate dept. Please can you advise if this parcel was packaged by the shipper or are you stating that the parcel has been re packaged by the couriers.
TV's are on the prohibited list and will automatically be rejected by the carriers.
  • I demonstrated photos before and after dispatch.
Given seller refused delivery the damage can only have occurred with courier.

  • Sadly you sent it by a service that is selective over what it covers (and you found out first hand). You don't say why you returned it - was it working? Is it still? You cannot enforce a claim if the company states it does not provide cover, the loss would be your. Hopefully you can still enjoy your purchase and have learned that not all carriers re the same.
  • I'm baffled-how/why did you buy Ј500 extra insurance for an item that the courier does not even cover, and indeed prohibits?
  • I didn't know it wasn't covered. Had I of known I wouldn't sent it obviously.
  • Did you not have to sate what the package contained, when applying for insurance ?
  • You can easily state contents for additiuonal cover that are excluded, the shipper is expected to ensure compliance or seek expertise to ensure money isn't wasted. There's a lot more to shipping than price... and as many have discovered, PF is rarely the carrier of choice.
  • Im currently pursuing with P4D who are the intermediary service i used (which use parcelforce).
When completing the form i stated 55" TV.
    Pretty damn clear to me.
I checked their T&C's. Its several pages long. (The TV bit is several pages down). Would you have read it? Do we ever read ALL the tiny print.
Anyway, I have returned a claim with them but they to are stating PF dont cover however said they will pursue.
Not sure if any can see my pictures link from earlier in the thread above but i kid you not the packaging was utterly destroyed and tv damaged.
I paid Ј15 for Ј500 of cover and when completing the online form and the TV part is 3 pages down. Total cost was Ј48.
I could have got a courier do it for Ј20 with no insurance. Why else would i take the insurance else i figured i was covered.
After doing the online form the company have 24hrs to say,
"hey, he's put 55" TV and asked for insurance, perhaps we should say something...."
    Im sorry but this stinks
