A question about : Besieged with 'IE has crashed' birds

I run Windows 7 and use IE Explorer (10 or 11 - can't remember which) but every time we use the internet the little bird keeps floating up telling me that IE has crashed but no solution yet.
Nothing appears to be wrong but I keep having to close the annoying message.

Should I uninstall IE and reinstall it and if so how do you do it?

• You can't uninstall IE as its part of windows. Download Chrome or Firefox browsers. Once you get used to them they are far superior to IE and much more stable. The choice is personal but if you have Gmail I would choose Chrome as it integrates with this.
• If you want to stick with IE, there are a couple of things that you can try.
  If you are using IE10, update to IE11 to see if this fixes the problem, alternatively, if you are already on IE11, you can normally remove this and go back to IE10.
  Removing IE11 is done by going to "control panel" - "programs and features" - "view installed updates" then click on IE11 and choose the remove option.
• Update Norton, a recent Intrusion Prevention update has killed IE (and in some cases stopped Chrome from loading). There's a fix out for it now.
  If you don't have Norton, try resetting IE. Click on start and type "internet options" in the search box. Click on the result and go to the advanced tab, then click Reset.

  Stevie -We tried Chrome and had difficulties with it so we uninstalled.
  Shaun - how do I find out which IE version I have and if I uninstall version 11 will it auto revert to IE 10?
  Esqui - I found the 'internet options/Reset but it stated "only do this if IE is inoperable" and it is fully operable apart from the constant crash messages.
