A question about : BBQ pricing

Hi guys

I've been looking to purchase a BBQ over the last few weeks and finally found a suitable product from B&Q. The Bondi GS56201. This was priced at Ј150 last week.

I went to their site to purchase it and it has been replaced with the G450 BBQ priced at Ј250:

Looking at the pictures / description, these are the exact same product. Are they allowed to do this? I really don't want to pay Ј250 for a Ј150 BBQ.

They also sold the G450 BBQ throughout last summer. Can they keep changing the name / pricing every year?

I understand there is a greater demand for BBQs this time of year. I just feel slightly ripped off at the moment that I missed out on the cheaper product by a few days.

Best answers:

  • Legally yes, they can do that. Retailers are allowed to set their own prices, name their own products and change their prices as much as they like before you order. It might be worthwhile asking them if they have any of the old model in stock though, you might get lucky!
  • It seems the GS56201 was an error on B&Q part....that number correlates to a lawn mower part....The G450 seems to be the only Bondi bbq manufactured.
  • Apologies, the GS model was a type. It was called the G56201.
I'll contact them and see if I am able to purchase the Ј150 one. I won't hold my breath though.
