A question about : Average speed camera help please

Just driving down the motorway and some roadworks start which I forgot about, the weather was bad and never noticed the sign. I went through the first average speed camera I think I was probably speeding at the time. I then left the motorway immediately after the first one where it goes back to national speed limit, the roadworks continue on the motorway I have left. As only going through one camera am I still likely to be in trouble?

• Not if you only passed one camera. The system relies upon averaging your speed based on the time it takes for you to go from Reference Point A to Reference Point B. Seeing as you have no Point B, there can be no average speed recorded.
  The cameras do not track your live/current speed.
  Just be careful that there wasn't another camera as you left the motorway (not likely if the slip road was immediatly following the first camera).
• Upon realising my mistake I went along the same stretch of road. Just 1 camera I went through and for 3 lanes there were only 2 camera on the pole so guessing the inside lane I was in for leaving maybe didn't even have a camera on it
• Perhaps if you say which motorway and junction it was someone could provide a more certain answer. I would have expected on a motorway that the cameras would be positioned in such a way that it's not possible to only pass one, but perhaps with temporary ones for roadworks the positioning isn't quite so precise.
• It's the roadworks on m54 East between 5 and 3, travelling East I left at junction 5
• You can't get an average speed from 1 camera.
  So if there was one camera you know the answer.
• There's usually cameras at on the sliproads to record the cars going up there so I'd imagine there were actually two cameras you passed. The only thing you can do is wait so no point wondering until you get a NIP in the post.
• Always wanted to know, and wondered if anyone knows:
  When going through an average speed section, is your average speed calculated tween the first 2 camera's or the first and last camera?
  Another way of putting it is can you accumulate several speeding tickets in one journey speeding through a average speed section (consisting of say 8 camera's) or just the one?

• Unlike the 'old' days you don't need an individual camera for each lane. One camera could actually do three lanes. And moving from lane to lane doesn't avoid them.
  As said, if you have only gone through one camera an average speed can't be calculated.
  The system needs your speed between two cameras so you can be caught if you speed between two cameras and slow right down between any others on the route. It's per two consecutive cameras, not across the whole system
• As Spicey said it may get treated as one offence if committed on the same stretch of controlled area.
  But I don't suggest you try it to find out.
