A question about : Attitudes to Electric Vehicles survey study

I am a student studying for a postgrad degree and I am conducting a survey to research attitudes towards Electric Vehicle car use and ownership in the UK.

If you’re up to filling out an online survey I would be very grateful to you. It takes around 10 minutes to complete, is multi choice and completely confidential.

To do the survey please copy and paste web address below into a browser and it will go to the Google Forms survey start page.

If you don’t fancy the survey then just post below whether you’re considering getting an EV or have decided not to and why.

PS. My study concentrates on people’s attitudes to pure EVs although I recognise many may prefer plug-in hybrid EVs which also have a back-up combustion engine.
Thanks, Buzz13

  • Yes its my first post under this name but if that upsets you I'm sorry, you can always walk on by
  • Had a go at it, but its far too long, boring and convoluted to maintain my interest.
Would consider a hybrid next time i'm changing - probably a Prius - as i'm doing 25K per year and i want to keep costs down and reduce use of fossil fuels.
We have a biomass wood pellet boiler, solar panels and ultra high levels of insulation on our house so reducing our reliance of fossil fuels even further would be a big plus for me.
  • I don't really get people that post these surveys. I don't see how the data is in any way relevant.
  • Yes but then why claim you are doing a degree?
Put simply, if you are doing a degree, then you aren't doing it very well.
If you are doing a GCSE coursework then maybe it is ok.
  • Sorry, started to complete it in good faith, then got to Q7, which is entirely predicated on the assumption that the environment needs "protecting" against emissions.
Any answer I gave would either be a lie or cast me as an evil planet destroyer, so I'm out.
  • Done it .
  • to reply to some other comments, the survey is a tad long perhaps, it's difficult to make surveys interesting so i know its asking a lot for people to do them. I thought the motoring section was the best place to post it even if it is cheeky. Cheers
  • Given what's available now, EVs seem most suited as an expensive second car.
If the Tesla 3 in a few years time has decent range, then that's a pricepoint game changer.
As for emission questions and reliance on fossil fuels/energy security, then that's a whole can of worms regarding the lack of a real UK energy policy after the dash for gas.
  • I agree with the above post on question 7, I didn't go any further either as I dislike the way it portrays electric vehicles as the saviour of the universe and completely ignores the many other alternatives to cars. I'm not convinced electric vehicles are such a quick fix and while the survey seems to force you down the route of an electric vehicle being the only way to reduce emissions, I went for the pedal cycle route (my car rarely gets any use now) which I consider much greener than an electric vehicle.
